I worded that wrong. I meant to say that you're assuming that the deciding factor is big. Your saying they wouldn't say that unless it's big and I'm saying it could have been said because it's true and to hype up her movie. It doesn't automatically mean that's it's big.
Thanos isn't in her movie.

Yet they are making her the face of the MCU without knowing how much bank she brings in so clearly that's not true.
It means they're going to try to force it. You really think they are pushing her to be the face because she's a nice person? Is everyone else in the cast an asshole?

Thanos doesn't need to be in her movie. If you hear she's going to have a huge role in End Game that's going to make any MCU fan who was even hesitant want to go to see it to make sure they don't miss major plot points. It's just one more thing that pushes you towards wanting to see her origin movie.

I never said it was because she was a nice person. I said they know her better. Maybe they interviewed her saw her personality and thought she would be a great fit for the face of the MCU. I think at the end of the day we can both agree that we hope you are completely wrong and everything is going to be amazing. Luckily we don't have to wait much longer to find out.

The scene with Tony and Nebula: he's going to use some of her cybernetic implants to fix the ship.

So you think they are saying she has a non-significant deciding role in Endgame as a way to hype her solo movie?

"Oh man, you can't believe the role Carol has in Avengers: Endgame!"
"Really! Oh man, I can't wait!"
"Makes you excited to see Endgame, right?"
"No, it makes me excited to see her solo movie where what you're describing doesn't happen!"

I'm saying it's possible they hyped up how big of a role she will play in End Game in order to get people interested in the character. Not really sure how this doesn't make sense to you. They don't need to get people excited to see End Game that movies going to sell no matter what. They are trying to get people excited to see her character and learn more about her. If you hear a character is going to play a huge part in a movie you do want to see your more likely to see a prequel to that characters story in order to know more about them.

So you think choosing the new face of the MCU shouldn't be based off their personality? So what criteria exactly do you want them to use in order to choose the new face of the MCU. Not personality you think that's silly obviously. So what do they do? Just money? Cause I'll be honest I liked BP but his personality does not scream new face of the MCU.

Why wouldn't they use what she does in her solo movie to hype her up seeing as that's the first time we'll see her in action?

"Hey, here's an idea. Let's market the Captain Marvel movie with footage from Endgame"
"Nice!"
"In fact, let's just use footage from Endgame and just tell the fans to show up to the movie theater in March"

Fan popularity, obviously. That's how every company that uses characters to sell their product does it.

When a sequel gets green-lit for a movie, you think it has more to do with the actor being such a great person and not the original movie doing big numbers?

Because her first movie deals with the skrulls which nobody knows.

"She even kills Skrulls with 1 blow" does nothing for anyone. Everyone knows Thanos though.

They have Captain Marvel coming out in March, End Game in April, and Spiderman right after that. They have no new super heroes after that and I doubt she outsells BP. So basically you want BP to be the face of MCU. I think an actors personality can play a big part in them being the face of the company. Unless you're going to argue that Tony Starks personality isn't one of the reasons he's so popular in the MCU.

No one knew who Iron Monger was but Iron Man did well. No one knew who Winter Soldier was but that film did well. No one know who or what a Chituari was but The Avengers did well. GOTG, enough said.

Clearly the obscurity of the villain doesn't stop their marketing team.

Nice try, though.

1. I never said I wanted BP to be the face. I said I wonder if he will be if Captain Marvel isn't received as well as they hope.

2. Tony Stark isn't an actor.

Any time someone brings up legitimate gripes for specific situations, you just marginalize the complaints by saying "oh, it's just because you have a problem with women and white males blah blah blah"
That's a strawman argument both ways. You said this too:

...why are they doing it? Because they want to pander to the female demographic.

Making her the new face of the MCU before her movie comes out also stinks of pandering. They're not letting popularity decide who they should push. They are letting a political agenda decide.

Like I said, my problem is with Marvel pushing her to please a certain demographic.
Both ways.

See my Av: they've got the Deadliest Avenger back on the team for the Endgame. Thanos is going to take an arrow to the knee.

He has taken an absolutely literal stance on what has been said about CM and got himself riled up based on that.

That despite the fact we have seen the MCU purposely use some misdirection in the past to hype up certain elements or throw things off. You are absolutely correct that the MCU might be wanting to build some hype for CM for her upcoming solo film by hyping up a little her role in Avengers End Game. that does not mean she won't important and maybe even vital, but that does not mean that she solo's Thanos while all the other Avengers eat Shawarmas and watch.

I already gave my fan theory on how I think it might play out and I did so before I saw anyone else speculate in that direction. I predicted they might meld her CM and Binary powers as they want to play up the Cosmic link. I could see Thanos putting it to all the Avengers again and it looking pretty bleak and maybe him about to finish her and her suddenly tapping her unbeknownst to her, Binary Powers and blasting him and forcing him to retreat. With all the hero's asking 'what was that' and her saying "i don't know', and her not tapping that power again in this movie but setting up the exploration of it for her latter movies. It would be similar to a Thor/Hela moment where she awakened his power.

Anyway he is determined to be rustled and declare his assumption MUST BE THE ONLY WAY for it to play out because 'reasons' when maybe it will and maybe it will play out very different. We will all have to wait and see, and some of us will wait mad.

"I can't believe someone is taking what a director says about their movie literally! Doesn't he know that since they misdirected a few times in the past that you should not believe anything they say from the jump even though 90% of what they show us turns out true?

So anyway, here's this fan theory I have that should be taken more seriously than what directors and actors have said"

Your statements are too vague to be taken seriously. Good luck next time.
I don't even know why I entertain one of your posts. No one else ever does. But still,

"You're strawmanning and at the same time being too vague...somehow! That's trippy, man"

we get it. You are angry and want someone, anyone, to fight with about this perceived direction.

its silly. You do not know. If you want insist you do lets bet and you give me 10:1 odds since you are certain. Av and Sig bet. You win you get mine for a month, I win I get yours for 10 months. You can't lose as you KNOW what is coming after all they eluded to some things and it must be 100% true.

So you up for the bet?

"You're strawmanning and at the same time being too vague...somehow! That's trippy, man"
Don't trip. Unsupported theories are vague. It's the lack of support that makes them specious. When you make up facts to represent a counter-fact, which is also made-up, that is Mr. Number One Bullshit.

I won't be mad if you don't respond, so don't worry.

I get it. Your argument is terrible and now you want to go off on a tangent, trying to change focus to some random ass bet.

I said I gotta believe what the director/actors are throwing at us until shown otherwise seeing as most of what they say does come true. You on the other hand, pull this specific fan theory out of nowhere.

But I'm the one who thinks he's certain of what happens.

<YeahOKJen>

And why in the blue hell would I care about your AV or sig? What kind of desperate hail mary attempt to go off-topic...
