The Trump government stands for a dog eat dog society that supports the riches and shits on the middle- and lower class, hence the installation of that ass clown Elon Musk.
It's odd that someone with a low income like @Seano supports that government. But I don't think he's as worried about the enormous military spending as he pretends to be. He just principally hates it that the US supports Eastern euros in any shape or form. Seeing Russians and Ukrainians wipe each other out, without any US involvement, is what he'd love to see the most.

It’s impossible to guarantee everlasting peace, you can only take steps to make it last longer. At best, you can ensure peace lasts as long as you have control over it. Trump isn’t responsible for what the next administration will do after he leaves office, nor can he control how Russia will perceive them. That’s the reality of diplomacy, any deal is only as strong as the people enforcing it.

If people expect some ironclad guarantee that will last beyond Trump’s presidency, they’re asking for something no leader can promise.

And prices have only gone up since Trump got in and all his policies he is pushing (tax cuts, tariffs) are inflationary and will raise prices. You now have Trump and Vance trying to socialize there will 'pain', meaning more high prices and more gov't debt, coming.

The economic interest the US would have in the Ukraine as a result of the proposed minerals deal alone would create a lasting interest in their security in the Trump admin and future admins.

Ukraine in NATO is not going to happen.

The reason Trump and US needs to be careful not to flat out say “if Russia breaks the ceasefire then we go all out” or “we go back to sending you billions in weapons” is that would basically be saying Ukraine is a de-facto NATO member under the same terms as a result of any peace deal. Which would ruin any peace deal.

Having the US economically tethered to Ukraine is as close to NATO as Ukraine is going to get.

Zelenskyy needs to get over hearing the right words and focus on what the deal itself would mean. The guarantee is implied because the deal would be useless if we allowed Russia to reload and go for Kyiv.

So you think that Trump, possibly the most notorious world leader for reneging on deals he made in modern history, should be trusted to keep some unsaid promise?
