Nobody thinks Ankalaev and Aspinall are some great top tier grapplers or anything. People are just aware at how bad Pereira and Gane's grappling have been against strikers like Jan and Ngannou, and that both Pereira and Gane have made a career without ever beating any legit wrestler.

It's why Gane has ducked guys like Blaydes and Aspinall in the past, and why the UFC were so hesitant on giving Ank the title shot.

just remember that you are comparing Jones at the tail end of his career with Tom, who is supposedly in his prime: look where Jones was when he was the same age as Tom now.
