Rumored Aspinall willing to be released from the UFC?

Yup, one of my references for this, the poke looked really bad at the time, he posted pictures of his eye all mesed up the following days, they fought like 3-4 weeks after.

Something else to consider, that eye poke happened like 15 seconds into the fight, Stephens was clearly in pain, not just "i cant see" type of thing while looking concerned holding a towell against the eye, Aspinall average fight is ended in less than two minutes, this was 4:30minutes and he was losing...got eye poked, took the way out, at this point the UFC should just schedule an Interim title fight and move on, if he doesnt return on timely manner, then tough luck, strip him.
Gane took the way out by intentionally fouling.

Ok, so you are biased.
I've been more objective about Jones/Aspinall than Jones fans. I've made a lot of posts shitting on Jones, but I also made one a couple weeks ago praising him and explaining why he's a great fighter. No one cares, but you aren't smart.

Hearsay, until coming from someone other than rando white belt on a karate forum with no source
Seems legit, actually. It's not Aspinall wanting out. It's him saying "if you want to make me give up, so easily, a title I had to wait so long to get my hands on, then you have to give up something you don't want to give up - rights and control over my revenue-producing ass when I'm healthy to go again."

It is exactly for not being smart that I really need you to show me why the UFC treated Tom like "shit" after making an interim belt for him, giving him the lineal championship after Jones retired and still allowing him to keep the belt even when he posts that he doesn't know when he comes back.

If you don't have anything to add, well, you are probably just part of that old guard that proliferates around these parts that hates Dana White, hates the UFC but buys all the PPVs and posts what they are eating all excited before UFC events.

Yeah, there's a bit of credence. When I made that post the clip wasn't included, just two sentences from an unknown

If I were Tom I'd be pretty pissed at Dana too. And might consider leaving.

It's bad enough that all the idiotic trolls are blaming Tom for what was Cyril's fault.

But the head guy on MMA, your boss, didn't have your back? That's number 1 bullshit right there. Dana apparently wanted Tom to just walk off a knuckle deep eye gouge and continue fighting at a severe disadvantage.

Seriously I'm starting to wonder why other fighters aren't poking eyes every minute of every round now. Not only work you not get punished, but you'll actually be rewarded. And your victim will be publicly flogged.

My assumption is that Hunter basically threatens everyone with release at literally any point of pushback from prospect to Champ, dude is douche central trained by el douche-o

155 sucks dogshit too yuh know.

It's always historically been the division where 145ers just waltz in nonchalantly and win the 155 belt. Featherweight jens vs featherweight BJ to kick off the division set the tone for what would be the most overrated division in history. Just how many people that have fought at featherweight have won the 155 belt. Hell even 135 frankie won the LW strap. What a fuckin pathetic joke of a division.

Sure, and this particular incident doesn't bug me very much bc I've been biased against Tom since his performance after the poke.

But in a general sense, the UFC has never been great at managing the momentum of certain divisions. But the way they've fumbled HW and nearly half the guys who held the belt there over the last 20+ years

Its quite the achievement. Pick a fighter, any fighter at HW.
From Cro Cop being matched with Eddie Sanchez and Napao coming off the OWGP to Francis murking most of the top 6 while DC and Stipe fought 3 times over 3+ years with the rubber match being a shitty Apex dud..

They just can't be given the benefit of the doubt at this point

At HW at least, some of it is probably by design.. they try to walk the line between having a reasonably popular champion that draws views, and a global superstar that can make demands. It’s not really worth it to give any HW champ a massive contract because the division is inherently volatile and even the best can lose in one punch from anyone in the division.

They were happy to keep Stipe and DC in the limelight because both of those guys were company men just happy to be getting a paycheck to fight. Meanwhile the second Ngannou gets the belt he thinks he rules the world.

It’s the danger of marketing your HW champ as “The Baddest Man On The Planet”. You can’t expect many guys to earn that title and not try to negotiate for a shit ton of money.

Absolutely true.

But tbf, they really do need to pay these guys more money lol

It's been the biggest criticism for nearly 30 years, now they have virtually worthless trinket belts, champions like Ilia and Khamzat don't really care about it unless they can leverage it for a title shot up a weight class by vacating it.

We've seen at least 3 other big mma promotions that had great HWs, and great relationships with those HWs
They could definitely stand to try some new shit at this point

Let him go. I don't think he has the same appeal as Francis did. So I don't know that he gets the big bag. It might be bigger than UFCs bag though.
I agree. If they've treated him so badly and he feels insulted and wants to leave, he should be allowed to leave.

Although I'm not sure the UFC will be willing to let him go.

Stipe aint no company guy, he told Dana to get someone else to put the belt on him when he beat Ngannou. He sat out for long periods cos he didnt give a shit.
