Part of it is explained in the comment you replied to, and the rest is obvious if you haven't been living under a rock for the last couple years.
Ok, so you are biased.

Gane took the way out by intentionally fouling.Yup, one of my references for this, the poke looked really bad at the time, he posted pictures of his eye all mesed up the following days, they fought like 3-4 weeks after.
Something else to consider, that eye poke happened like 15 seconds into the fight, Stephens was clearly in pain, not just "i cant see" type of thing while looking concerned holding a towell against the eye, Aspinall average fight is ended in less than two minutes, this was 4:30minutes and he was losing...got eye poked, took the way out, at this point the UFC should just schedule an Interim title fight and move on, if he doesnt return on timely manner, then tough luck, strip him.
I've been more objective about Jones/Aspinall than Jones fans. I've made a lot of posts shitting on Jones, but I also made one a couple weeks ago praising him and explaining why he's a great fighter. No one cares, but you aren't smart.Ok, so you are biased.
Seems legit, actually. It's not Aspinall wanting out. It's him saying "if you want to make me give up, so easily, a title I had to wait so long to get my hands on, then you have to give up something you don't want to give up - rights and control over my revenue-producing ass when I'm healthy to go again."Hearsay, until coming from someone other than rando white belt on a karate forum with no source

Yeah, there's a bit of credence. When I made that post the clip wasn't included, just two sentences from an unknownSeems legit, actually. It's not Aspinall wanting out. I'm not going to complain about someone wanting more than popular-girl social media gossip to go on, that's for sure.Yeah, there's a bit of credence. When I made that post the clip wasn't included, just two sentences from an unknown
Sure, and this particular incident doesn't bug me very much bc I've been biased against Tom since his performance after the poke.
But in a general sense, the UFC has never been great at managing the momentum of certain divisions. But the way they've fumbled HW and nearly half the guys who held the belt there over the last 20+ years
Its quite the achievement. Pick a fighter, any fighter at HW.
From Cro Cop being matched with Eddie Sanchez and Napao coming off the OWGP to Francis murking most of the top 6 while DC and Stipe fought 3 times over 3+ years with the rubber match being a shitty Apex dud..
They just can't be given the benefit of the doubt at this point
Absolutely true.At HW at least, some of it is probably by design.. they try to walk the line between having a reasonably popular champion that draws views, and a global superstar that can make demands. It’s not really worth it to give any HW champ a massive contract because the division is inherently volatile and even the best can lose in one punch from anyone in the division.
They were happy to keep Stipe and DC in the limelight because both of those guys were company men just happy to be getting a paycheck to fight. Meanwhile the second Ngannou gets the belt he thinks he rules the world.
It’s the danger of marketing your HW champ as “The Baddest Man On The Planet”. You can’t expect many guys to earn that title and not try to negotiate for a shit ton of money.
I agree. If they've treated him so badly and he feels insulted and wants to leave, he should be allowed to leave.Let him go. I don't think he has the same appeal as Francis did. So I don't know that he gets the big bag. It might be bigger than UFCs bag though.
Stipe aint no company guy, he told Dana to get someone else to put the belt on him when he beat Ngannou. He sat out for long periods cos he didnt give a shit. They were happy to keep Stipe and DC in the limelight because both of those guys were company men just happy to be getting a paycheck to fight.
That guy also failed to beat Tom.... Just couldn't help fighting dirty. And then Tom failed to beat the very guy Jon beat for the legitimate title.
Oh.
