Well, OK, maybe we don't know he is the greatest just yet, and maybe it's not an exposure since everyone knows HW is super weak- but still.

Why isn't there more of a hype train for him? Look a little more closely at his record. His only legit loss was in 2015, which was way too long ago to matter. Other than that, he has 11 first round finishes and one second round finish, and that's his career.

That is easily the most impressive resume at HW right now besides Francis, who has had more opportunity, but IMO hasn't been more impressive; he couldn't beat Stipe when Stipe was still good. Francis has split 2 fights with Stipe and a cuddling session with Gane on the ground, and that is the only thing that even compares. Compare Gane's fight with Volkov to Aspinall's.

Look at Aspinall's ground game compared to Gane and Francis; there is NO comparison. I think he is what we THOUGHT Gane was going to be before he laid there getting spooned by Francis. That fight was pathetic, and I don't see how there isn't more leeway given to Aspinall being the future champion, and HW FINALLY having a good champion.

There is a hype train for him, there isn’t more of a train as he hasn’t accomplished anything yet. If he wins it’ll come, just waiting at the mo. Tom is great for the heavyweight division, would love to see him get the strap.
It's overstating the case to say he "hasn't accomplished anything." Volkov is no joke, and the way he tore him up was impressive.

I would love to see him get the strap and continue to be impressive. We will all have to take antidepressants if we have to continue to watch HW title fights like Gane vs Francis. Or County Fair-level boxers with no ground game like Derrick Lewis fighting at the top level.

If he beats Blaydes he will get plenty of hype. Right now he’s just an impressive prospect but the proof will be when he closes out a top HW.

It's nice seeing a well rounded HW and he has more than 5 minutes of cardio.

A rare thing in today's HW division.

I don’t think someone with a ko threat is probably more likely to beat ngannou that someone like a Gane or Rozenstruik who will stand in front of him for five rounds. Ngannou is too dangerous to spend 25 minutes with

I meant hadn’t accomplished anything worthy of stoking the hype train to the max. Let’s pump the brakes on that imo, he’s getting a lot of hype and I think it’s about right at the moment personally.

Totally with you, he’s awesome and a valuable addition to that division. Gane v Francis was an awful fight and I’m sure I don’t need to remind you there are many more in that division. Sure you get one punch ko power in HW but many fights are Esparzaesque.

If Ngannou’s knees are healthy(for some reason, people seem to ignore that he had 0 explosion against Gane), can’t wait to see him knock this man’s head off.

GOATspinall is awesome, and he does have hype!

Its just 2 things

1. The jaded cynical fans dont care about the HW div and assume the worst

2. Ngannou situation is not resolved, making the ceiling even lower

Well, for one thing, Francis would do badly on the ground, and two, against someone good, this sort of thing doesn't work so well:

I don't think Aspinall wants a hype train. This is the guy who once said in a post-fight interview "I’m trying to move up this thing slow. If I’m No. 13, give me No. 12". Hard to have a proper hype train when the conductor is trying to apply the brakes.

He looks the real deal and with back to back destructions of volkov and blaydes then the train will surely be going at full speed
