Aspinall doesn't seem sure about how good he really is

Bro, you are a psychologist, wow brother. Thank you for this amazing insight. Please solve the world's problems next post bro.

He has not shown any flaw in his UFC fights, it's not wrong to point that out.
Obviously he knows more about himself than us sherdoggers.

Edit: I'm wrong he did show he was hitable and tends to leave his chin exposed. But Jones has very little KO threat, so not too relevant for their fight.
He didn't show his british wrestling defense yet

Even when he loses, like against Reyes
I can say that about so many fights historically. Boxing and MMA. I have watched Marvin Hagler versus Sugar Ray Leonard probably 200 times and every time I watch it I think Marvin Hagler won the fight. But The end result is the end result.

I have to give him credit for being open about the fact that the roller coaster ride might end and that Jones exposes him.

But its also alarming. There is something about his game he feels isn't a 100% backed up.

Aspinall was on Logans podcast a few hours ago and talks about alternative life paths in the short term if it all collapses in the UFC.

THe fact the he even thinks about that openly suggests to me that he isnt overly confident. He probably thinks hes got 30-40% chance against Jon.
Having a plan B actually allows one to go all in on plan A, without being scared about the future!
Stress is rarely a good thing.

Lions don’t tell you they’re lions.

Tom fighting a dangerous killer (at the time, Pavlovich) on short notice tells us all we need to know.

I think it may be a psychological effect on how much stock people are putting on him to be the one to take out Jon Jones. The fact he was the first fighter whom Jon Jones wasn't openly vocal about firing back, like, for the first time JJ even showed signs that he was 'terrified' of Tom, with people making hundreds of "wow, what does Tom have that made even Jon turn into a scared fighter??" ... After the Aspinall vs Sergei fight, Jon Jones was a huge favourite vs Aspinall oddshwise, still. However, after Aspinall defeated Curtis, and with Jon's demeanor of never bragging and never saying openly he would beat Tom, hinting retirement instead, affected the betting system too, changing massively from a 80% JJ vs 20% Aspinall to a 52% Aspinall vs 48% JJ, more or less. JJ had said after he defeated Reyes, in a fight that he needed to push himself beyond his limits to win, like Gus 1, that he had gone through a lot of psychological reflection. And said that he'd try to show himself as the one no one can beat, and hide his fears in many press conferences, though with constant therapy and reading and all, Jones found out that showing he is insecure and fears losing like every fighter, works better for his mentality during the fight.

So idk, I think that when the expectation is also so big on you, like it is with Aspinall being the one to destroy JJ and all, the fear of failure also brings an insecurity. To be factual though, Aspinall said he has always been scared when fighting, like, in the Sergei vs Tom press, Tom said that he is scared, but that one of his strong sides is that he thrives in fear, that when he is within the biggest pressure and biggest fear moments, he shows his best self, even mentioning an animal that, when backed into a corner, unleashes a lethal poison (I forgot the animal's name tho). But he mentioned that while maintaining a very confident and cool composure. It feels different when he opens up about possibly being "exposed" and having to think on an alternate path... Which to me, already, isn't the thriving into fear, like, enjoying to be in such a position mentality like vs Sergei, but feeling a little unsettled by the possibility of it happening.

Another thread full of copium but at the end of the day Tom really wants this fight and Jones is clearly ducking him.

You needed to post it when Tom was with his eyes wide open. Wrong screen shot moment! Hehe

Only Tom knows what his takedown defense looks like. I certainly don't since nobody has even tried taking him down in the UFC.

Tom's speed or KO power isn't going to be a factor when he's on his back with Jon Jones on top of him.

He's never been taken down in the UFC

And not sure what that has to do with speed.
He's never been taken down because...wait for it...nobody has even tried.

Literally, not one fucking takedown attempt from anyone. Even if his TDD is actually pretty good, it's Jon Jones who's going to be doing the takedown attempts.

Yeah because they are usually unconscious beforehand. Slow fat Jones isn't going to be the one to do it.

Now do jon is has been actively ducking the top HWs for 5+ years now. 3 + years ducking HW until Ngannou left and then now ducking Tom. Only wants to fight Randy or Tim Silva. Shows you how weak minded Jon really is be. Unless we talking about slapping on women like him and Dana be.

Pretty sure Jones himself has allowed that he could get Kod and he doesn't lack confidence (once he steps in the cage)

Wrestling beats JJ

Being bigger, younger, and stronger with less mileage by far beats both.

People actually watched Jones vs Stipe and saw how slow Jones looked. They saw a 37 year old LHW with a beer gut (albeit an insanely talented one) beat a washed up 42 year old coming off almost a 4 year layoff and think "Yeah, Jones still has it!" They dont want to believe their own eyes that tell them he's not the same guy he used to be.

Carl Lewis used to be the fastest man alive. If we have him race another 60+ year old and he wins, that doesn't mean he can go out and beat a sprinter in their prime FFS.
