You really haven’t noticed khabibs gradual improvement in striking???

Javier is one of the best things to happen to Khabib. He actually helped complete him as a fighter. Before Mendez Khabibs striking was non existent and he defaulted to his grappling

Dont ever become a mma coach bro lol

/boom.

We got it bro, you love Luke Rockhold, You need to place blame somewhere, I pray that you heal. It's not Javier's fault that Luke is a meathead.

I don't see it myself. But then again I don't have a Sherdog psychology degree so I'm not as adept at telling when someone is shook/cucked/triggered/salted/insert dumb verb here.
Didnt Javier fly to Dagestan not too long ago to help Khabib prepare ?
Yeah

Totally disagree. They have great connection. Javier is reason khabib striking improved. The way you know javier is great coach he never tried to make him stand up strike and promote him and his gym by trying to make khabib strike to show off how much he improved with him, instead Fathers plan always. He even visited him in Dagestan for 2 weeks

Yeah its pretty much DC and the other guys plus his own crew. Javier is probably a decent striking coach but its not like khabib ever uses conventional striking.

I have a very negative opinion on Javier. IMO he has contributed little to nothing to Khabib's career and is essentially there for show/ because Khabib wants to be "loyal". I think Khabib's success is 50% his father(genes, nutrition, early life, making him do sports, wrestling, advice, gameplanning etc.) 50% dedication. Most of the AKA success was from big guys like Cain, DC etc. training there not from Mendez. That's why Rockhold didn't really care for staying there. He wanted real coaching input/analysis.

From watching all the Khabib vlogs he seems to barely ever train Khabib or give him any insight/advice. Khabib barely even uses his striking anyways. I believe he's just sticking around because he wants to get a large payout from his % cut of the fight.

Imo Javier also doesn't like Khabib that much other than him being champ, they don't get along that well due to language barrier and Khabib always talks russian with the rest of his camp which Javier doesn't understand so he's just sitting there like a mute. Doesn't give much advice in the cage either. Whenever I watch them interact Mendez seems like he's annoyed. Which makes sense since Khabib just talks russian 90% of the time unless DC and co are there.
Imo the relationship is strained.

Also I don't believe I've ever seen Mendez take any credit whatsoever for coaching Khabib b/c he knows he has little to do with his success.

Dude you really went through all of this typing just to be wrong

So he would pay big bucks to bring this second rate coach around the globe with him? Get real, Javier and the other guys at AKA are great coaches with a ton of experience? Would guys like Cain, DC, Rockhold, Khabib, found success at other gyms with different coaches? Most likely. But still, that doesn't take away from Javier, people are so weird sometimes.

Maybe josh kosh was right afterall
This was my first thought as well. The entire “Fight Factory” reality show was seemingly based on Josh Koscheck’s disdain for Mendez and his (in Kos’ opinion) worthless coaching. He would probably agree with TS.

Khabib has greatly benefited from being at AKA, including from Javier Mendez and his coaching. Look at the Tibau fight - that was Khabib's second fight in the UFC and his second fight in a cage. He didn't know how to use the cage to his advantage.

Now look at Khabib. He's probably the best example of a wrestler using the cage well.

Look at Khabib's striking earlier in this UFC career. It was garbage. Look at it now - he knocked Conor down. He's comfortable and competent on the feet.

Don't let whatever petty bullshit you have against Mendez blind you, TS. You have no clue what the relationship between them is, and frankly it's not your concern. Don't just make shit up to fit your narrative.

Maybe Kos shouldn't have been such a stubborn guy and learned some new skills, instead of training the same way for years and years without challenging himself to round out his game.

Sometimes it's not the coach's fault. Other guys at AKA have evolved. If Kos didn't, I can't say it's because Mendez stifled him.

This is a dumb post that has no evidence or logical basis to support any of the OP's presumptions. I'm surprised threads like this are not wastelanded or the very least sent to another thread.

WE DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR BASELESS OPINIONS OP.

I dont like Javiers tendency to throw his fighters under the bus when things dont well and deflect blame from himself

Totally agree with you. I wasn’t saying I agree with Kos, and think Javier’s legacy as a coach is much greater than Kos’s as a fighter. But TS’s comments just reminded me of Koscheck saying how Javier didn’t really do much coaching.
