Media Arnold Allen deadlifts 440lbs

But he's like 140 how!? How!?
Chad Mendes deadlifts 400. Is this why wrestlers have a hard time holding Kai down? Is he another volkanovski? An overwhelmingly strong/powerful short dude? I'm impressed

Not bad...

Here's a Sherdogger

Impressed. Too bad we don't know his username.

Knees coming in a bit even during the setup. Might have ankle mobility problem and/or issue with external rotation of the hip.

Anyone who does any sort of respectable sport or bodybuilding knows deadlifting is the most Pleb of all free weight exercises, it’s always the people with mediocre gains or built like bags of dog food who deadlift.

You sound like someone well past your prime lol.

Not sure where you’re getting this perception from. Deadlift is universally considered one of the best ways to build posterior chain strength, full body strength, and add muscle to a frame. All other factors being equal(which they never are), the stronger deadlifter will be the stronger human being.

There’s no doubt they have the capacity to improve performance(in people who lack strength). The only real questions surrounding them are pertaining to cost/benefit ratio. Ie, is it worth it for an athlete to invest the time/energy into doing them, and risk injury, for the benefit of being slightly stronger?

I recall seeing videos of NFL players and strength coaches avoiding deadlifts due to their high risk of injury and opting for better exercises.

I was a successful pro athlete for 10 years and subsequently have been working in physical and mental performance at the highest level (Olympic athletes, Champions League football teams, world champion martial artists, etc) for almost 30 years … so yes, it’s a topic on which I speak fairly confidently … but of course you just had to gratuitously insult another’s - educated - opinion for no reason and without a better argument than “he’s an athlete, his father was an athlete, you for sure are not” …

Well, be more mindful with assumptions in the future.
Dude, shut the fuck up. You are full of shit

I'd bet around 165. He looks decently lean. 440lbs is good work, no belt on though is wild as someone said.

You gotta take the ego out of every lift and respect every weight no matter what it is.

Injuries are no joke.

He's 165 lbs in the cage.
His walk around weight is 185-187 lbs.

Here is the most accurate/sensible post about his weight

Round of applause to you

I've seen 187lb men in shape, he's not the size of GSP. I'm doubtful as fuck. He looks about 165 there as a 5'9 dude.

I know it may be hard for the average behemoth Sherdogger to accept but let’s tale a FW the size of Cub Swanson. He can hit the scale at over 180lbs pounds as I have personally seen it done at his gym (right before Frankie fight) and he was 183lbs and still lean.

Cub was not considered a large or huge FW ever in his career too.

All these fighters are pretty big on the scale or they wouldn’t be able to compete with most.

Allen looks a larger guy than Mr. Swanson so 185-187 between fights is practically standard for a top FW.

Just got done with my Saturday lift, I was working back, my finishing exercise was strip deads with 60 second intervals… as the last exercise of the day I had to dial down and go embarrassingly lite, oh well.

I pulled 495 for a fiver, stripped the quarters and cranked 445 for seven, 405 felt lite, I did a dozen, my last drop always to failure was the tree fiddy, I usually stop at true muscle failure, when I start bleeding from my eyes and ears. Today, I dropped the bar after hitting the vomiting threshold because this irresistible craving or overwhelming instinctual sensation hit me…
Go talk shit on Sherdog.

Pawls it, pawls it. He’s wearing wristbands. Dunt count

Thank you for your very polite, pertinent and erudite opinion. As I stated before, what you believe is your concern, not mine. To me it’s just very funny to read that a complete stranger is absolutely certain that I’m not who in fact I am. :)

Maybe. I just don’t see what is so bad about regular deadlifts though.

I've seen a handful of people get some lower back injuries from them but never had a problem with them myself. Maybe I'm just buying into the fear mongering lol

Yeah, the power clean seems to be generally used in football as a sub for deadlifts. Works the same joint actions, but explosively, and with less risk of injury. Probably a superior exercise for lost athletes, once they’ve built a decent strength base.

Well if they are done incorrectly they sure could be awful.

Lol @ Sherdoggers thinking they can do more weight easily.

That’s how the real average Sherdogger looks.
