Media Arnold Allen deadlifts 440lbs

Not bad...

Here's a Sherdogger

This is false. We'd either do it with 1 hand or tied to our giblets.

He's 165 lbs in the cage.
His walk around weight is 185-187 lbs.

haha damn he really packs on 20 between camps? that's a rough turn around. I'm sitting at 205 right because I did the same over winter but now with a BJJ tourney in August and I'm really hoping to hit 182 for it but I'm getting old and cutting weight is getting harder lol. the excess sheds off slower each year. all the power to him

Maybe for bench or squat… Not deadlifts, the most useless of all free weight bar exercises.

<KhabibBS>

What are you babbling about? Deadlift is more useless than bench? lmao.

And nobody (see: very few) outside of being competitive or having great leverages (see: godly) is doubling their weight on bench. Maybe if you weigh like 150 lbs.

I think most powerlifters I know use a belt, especially for training. I could be wrong but doesn't it help for preventing abdominal years and hernias a lot?

Supposedly a belt prevents the full gamut of core muscles from developing.

I guess it's like comparing lifting heavy weights on a machine to working with free weights.

A powerlifter who intends to powerlift might as well wear one. Someone who wants to maximise power across the spectrum of muscle movement might not want to.

Pretty easy to rupture a disc and your back is compromised for the rest of your life .
Back in 2018 I was deadlifting 335, first time doing so and as soon as I lifted the bar up something popped under my leg next to junk. Turns out it was a minor hernia so I made sure to get a weight belt and I never deadlift without it.

If he 'Fact Checks' something, his conclusion is usually inaccurate.

I think for the average lifter a belt isn't necessary if you work your core and use proper technique. I've been lifting for over 20+ years and have never used one. But it might be a whole different ball game with competition lifting imo. You are basically pushing the limits

Anyone who does any sort of respectable sport or bodybuilding knows deadlifting is the most Pleb of all free weight exercises, it’s always the people with mediocre gains or built like bags of dog food who deadlift.

You sound like someone well past your prime lol.
