Are you in shape for your age ?

decent enough
i can out lift most average gym bros but i get mogged by dudes who are athletes or have been staying consistent for a while
my strength goals are coming along nicely
i ahve also been focusing on my mobility and core strength which has helped alot
this year i am going to focus more on oly lifts and cardio stuff while going long term growth on the big 3 lifts
i drink and smoke and eat
i dont hve any desire to have a 6 pack or be ripped. id rather just be thicc.

i am 5'10 and 230lbs currently so body goals is to get down to 220 and stay there with a 18-20% body fat
at the beginning of last year iw as at my fattest at 250lbs and feeling weak and immobile so it has been a good gym year and i plan to continue that

Are there any pies involved in this story? ...... asking for a friend.....that's definitely not homosexual.......

Oh that was the bizarre 20's stage, when I did things to just see if I was alive......I wouldn't recommend it, really tested my flexibility and impact resistance.....
So, you've started actually looking before crossing roads now?

Nope, traffic got so bad that cars hardly move and the speed limit was dropped to 20mph 😂, which a person on a reasonable pushbike could exceed at a constant speed, let alone the amount of illegal electric vehicles without any type of insurance or identification that travel about at 35mph +

I'm not where I should be. I trained for nearly 30 years straight but covid came and I haven't been back since. Also I smoke too much.

I know I still "got it" because I'll randomly show up to go spar and hold my own but it's not a good feeling to be so winded immediately.

I know that I've said this in other threads, but you really notice how out of shape the population is in youth sports. Many parents can't get down in a catcher's squat in baseball/softball. In basketball, it looks like many adults haven't ran or jumped in ages. I realize most aren't playing sports anymore, but just generally keeping in shape with exercise should keep you mobile enough to be able to do these basic things. A lot of people simply do not exercise at all.

i'm in decent shape. i've always been in decent shape. routine is key for anyone who wants to stay a certain shape at the very least, to avoid see-sawing weight. for me it's daily lifting for about ten minutes, walking throughout the day, and bicycle-riding on the weekends.

Probably weigh 30 lbs more than I did 10 yrs ago

Quite good for my age. Though that's more an indictment of the average person my age than me being in great shape. I have a fairly active dog so I get a minimum of an hour and half walking everyday. According to the health app on my phone I'm in the top 12% of steps taken per day for my age group. I'm intending to start going the gym I'm just waiting for the new years rush to die down.

Also kudos to the family in the video for having an in shape dog.

I am 58 and in great shape. I routinely get hit on by 25 something year olds who think I am university age. I get carded all the time and when I am out with my daughter, everyone thinks I am her son.

<30>That has to be an absolute ego blow to your daughter lol!

That‘s nothing, the other day I got puller over by a cop, and he didn‘t believe that I was of legal age to drive do they towed my car.

Sometimes I need to ask kids on the street to buy me beer because the cashier thinks my ID is fake. And the drinking age her is 16.

42, 6"3, 200lbs... I used to be leaner, but I'm doing weights, and basic calisthenics still... Eating OK, drinking a lot of water... Also still partying a bit, so honestly, I have no idea.

Sort of. I have a condition that can cause me a great deal of fatigue. So i'm relatively in shape but sometimes I can struggle to do activities.

This morning is wonderful! I feel quite good and energetic. I've already put in 6 miles this morning. I might have the right diet working for me.

A small protruding belly is a shape too. Darn stubborn belly fat.

I am on the other side of 50 and I am in shape. I was a HS and College athlete and just kept the lifestyle. I was 6ft 200lbs for a long time, but as I got older my bloodwork (A1-C, Triglycerides, Liver Enzymes) dictated I cut some weight. So I went low carb a few years ago and now I'm around 187 and bloodwork is way better. I do weights 5 days a week and cardio 2. I like to do sprint workouts when weather permits. I walk every night with my wife, a few miles and we hike on weekends. The biggest difference is cutting out sugar and processed foods, and high carb foods. I do a modified Keto...which means I allow myself more than a typical Keto because I work out and need some carbs.

At 46, in overall better shape than my younger days for sure.
More a product of consistency & better lifestyle.
Not quite as strong as late 20s: (most obvious, squatting heavy), but close enough.

Cardio is better than it's ever been though, (mainly through consistency last few years.)
Run about 30 to 50 a week depending on schedule & motivation, lift about 4 to 6 days as well.

Plan is to kick it up a notch this year & get a bit leaner.
Maintaining fit lifestyle & a meditative practice are pillars/foundation that help keep me on point mentally & afford a stronger degree of optimism & resilience when shit doesn't go my way or intended, which is more often than not.

45 years old, I'm feeling pretty strong and healthy

My lift game has gotten much better than I was younger, but I can't run anymore (I bike instead)

A few posters here mentioned a lack of flexibility so I'll share something about that. I'm on the bad side of 50 and about four months ago I started a lower body flexibility routine. About 15 minutes a session, 4-6 days a week. Calves, hamstrings, quadriceps, obliques, lower back, glutes, groin.

It's really put an extra spring in my step. A smooth fluidity/grace in my gait that I haven't had in years.

Jesus americans are nasty. Compared to these fatties I am Mike Tyson.
