One size does not fit all.......

The real agenda is to stop you owning a private vehicle....

As it should be they've destroyed everything.

The bigger issue isn't some people owning private vehicles but everything being built around them. They caught on because they were fun leisure craft when few people had them. No one could forsee what a cancer they'd become.

I think the best strategy currently is to own one EV and one gasoline car.

That way you can use the gasoline car for long trips.

Outside of the issue of charging on long trips, I think EV's are way better. Not perfect, but better.

I think hybrids were a perfect vehicle for the transition but for some reason they're not as popular as they should be. Best of both worlds. You can charge it every night and if you need to take it on a long trip then gas will get you there.

We need cheap clean power, not down grading humanity......... Humans aren't a cancer on this planet........

No they aren't that's why I call overpopulation bitchers out for gaslighting.

Cars and highways are absolutley are a cancer not just on this planet but human society even if they were environmentally friendly. They still destroyed communitys(far more than social media did) and made everything an inaccessible island without paying for a car/insurance/gas. Even for those willing to pay those things it's statistically probable you will get in an accident at least once even if you do everything right. Some say cars symbolize freedom but they only symbolize freedom because the world forces you to own one to be free.

EVs just aren't quite there. The infrastructure isn't there. The battery and charging tech aren't there, but are getting better. Coal-burning electricity plants, ships, and planes are all bigger polluters than personal automobiles. By far.

I also think they are a stop-gap to the real mass-transit fuel technology. Maybe hydrogen.

Meh, in a lot of ways we are. A cancer grows without bounds until it destroys its host, rather than operating in harmony with the host systems. How much biodiversity loss is directly attributable to humans? What other species of life causes anywhere near as much irreversible destruction as humans? Are we anywhere near a point of equilibrium with the earth and society, where we've found a stable rate of consumption and recycling such that our behavior is sustainable for say, 10,000 years? (A blink of an eye timeline of earth) If we're not at that point now, are we at least pointed in that direction?

Because where I'm looking from, most of what humans have done throughout history is mindlessly consume and use resources with little if any regard for the effect on the earth or future generations. We're not in harmony with the system of life on earth. We destroy everything in our path because we view ourselves as more important than the system as a whole. Very much like a cancer.

For - for other people, not for me. More electric car users, more gas for me. Same reason I support vegans.

I do own a hybrid, which is the best of both worlds. Saves gas, and I won’t be screwed if the power grid goes out or if I run out of power in a rural area.

Okay I understand your point.....

I agree with the breakdown of community......

But I feel that's now being used for other purposes...

Electric vehicles don't really add the benefit folks thi g to environment. Im sure they are better but not nearly as much as folks seem to think. An the fuel price isn't as much of a difference as the price for the ev is. Add on the hassel trying to make long drives. I wpuldcifchad no choice but I prefer gas. Or at least hybrids

I am in the industry:
Pros:
1. Fast acceleration
2. Save on Gas
3. More bells and whistles with the interior tech

Cons:
1. Charging takes too long
2. Cold weather issues
3. Not enough distance on charges, or charging stations
4. Expensive batteries
5. Not environmentally friendly like people think, AT ALL.
6. Ugly designs

I was for them until I realized we’re still being environmentally irresponsible mining for their battery materials.

Anyone against EVs clearly hasn't popped a sustainable wheelie on an electric motorcycle.

Almost anything the government wants you to do, is a trap.

Free market competition is always good, so if they're not forced through government policies and there's no hidden agenda to restrict people's freedoms then I'm okay with it. But we all know that's not the case. They're itching to use EVs as part of nation wide/worldwide digital ID, digital currency, and social credit system gulag. No fucking thanks.

When I read through these threads it just reminds me how early we are. All of you don't even realize what is about to happen. Bullish for investments.

Cobalt is an issue though to allay my concerns they could just include a photo of the child slave they crushed into my battery since nobody is going to do anything to fix the problem
It would be as effective as the lung cancer photos on a pack of cigs

I feel like there's gotta be a better solution. The EV seems to add a lot more weight and the batteries I think rely on rare earth metals, so what's gonna happen when everyone needs new battery every so often? One hostile nation is already setting up all over the world to dominate the supply of these metals.
