You buy a car for two reasons:

1) Daily driver efficiency, safety, and comfort.

2) Zombie apocalypse reliability.

Good luck charging your EV during the world's end.

Ever heard of solar? Where are you going to find unlimited gasoline during an apocalypse?

First of all, I'm dying at the out break. Now Mr. Survivor where are you gonna find undamaged solar panels?

That does change my post, yes. Good that you can charge your car at home, it sure makes it easier for everyday commute. If you only drive in the city and close suburbs EVs are good.
For me though they are unacceptable yet, because I like to travel by car, in the range of 500-1000 kilometers per day, in winter as well as in summer. Modern EVs can't do that, I'd spend half of the day charging.

Yep makes sense.
EVs are situational, with applications that they are suited to, and not suited to. Just like anything else.

Blanket statements are missing the point, regardless of it they are for or against.

Anyway, back on topic, why do you want me to obey so badly?
I don't think it's about obeying. You do what is suitable for you. If gasoline is cheaper and more convenient for you then go for it. If they produce the infrastructure and lower prices. You wouldn't make the switch?

For but only cuz they're an improvement environmentally from gasoline, I want car based infrastructure decimated to the point possible and practical. Infrastructure built around everyone owning cars is wildly inefficient, wasteful, and fucks up cities, towns and landscapes. It takes up too much damn space and causes too many problems.

. Petrol cars have reached their limit.
The limit is set by the OEM. They clearly haven't hit any limit as people modify them to go much faster. The average person Can't really modify the average EV unless you drop weight.

If a new Z06 Corvette can run 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds, you don't think GM could make a car that's faster? Well actually, they're going to when the ZR1 comes out.

I've driven both of my friends Tesla and Tesla Plaid. Absolutely nuts on the acceleration but I feel it would get old quick if I drove it daily.

As a car enthusiast, I feel they lack the soul. I have a modified Audi S3 and have a blast driving it daily. The roar of the motor, sound of the exhaust, rowing through the gears to stay on boost, dsg farts, and the whistle of the turbo..... EVs just doesn't give you an emotion. It's just mash the gas pedal and go zip.

EV has their place but it's not for me. I live in Cali and they're planning to go all in on EV. Fuck that! The next car I plan to purchase is a B8 RS5 naturally aspirated V8 baby!

I live in an apartment on the 4th floor.
just get a 100 foot extension cord and run it from your room down to the car <seedat>

I'm kidding of course, but this does point out the challenge for anyone living in apartment buildings, especially if there's no parking garage where they can install chargers. Slowly, chargers are being added to grocery store parking lots, bars and restaurants etc which will help

The good thing is, if you're like me and only buy used cars, you'll still be able to buy gas cars after 2035.

And you're God damn right about sterileness of EVs. It's funny though, some Tesla owners constantly say that everyone that drives one loves it and wants to buy one afterward.. Clearly that's not the case. When you have people comparing a Tesla to a Civic or Maxima, for course they're going to impressed. My coworker just bought a 540i and that felt much nicer than the Model 3, and he drove my boss's model 3 a while back.

Not to mention they're a dime a dozen in California and there nothing unique about driving the same white or gray Model 3 or Y as everyone else.

Then EVs are NOT ready for you.

I'm assuming it's apartment living with street parking? That's an excellent point and I can't imagine it making economic (or convenience) sense to use paid charging in public.

Now if you were using a parking garage, would you be able to use a wall plug (if available)?
