Just finished the 3rd episode, which the first arc, and this is the fourth time I've watched the season and there's still so many things that escaped my notice from my previous times I've viewed the show.
This may be the most dense storytelling I've ever seen in any show ever.
The events of the first arc (three episodes) could have easily been expanded into an entire season with minimal 'fluff' added in and the standard techniques that editors use to expand the runtime of episodes. Just added in more inconsequential characters, neededless world-building, and subplots that weren't neccessary.
They could have 'Game of Thrones Season 7&8' it.
Even with all of that added in I bet it'd be a damn good show, but the writers & producers had a high priority of getting to the point, move the story forward not only with every scene but every line of dialog, and to not waste the viewers time.
This absolutely isn't a show you can have playing in the background while doing housework and expect to keep up with the events.
