A proven winner in a completely different sport where he did zero boxing.
And you don't know if he's gonna get tired considering he's 36, just had hip surgery and got off his couch.

Physical attributes matter man.
Jake's gonna sit down on a hook and clip poor Ben :(
It's definitely possible.

I do think that mentally Askren is a LOT smarter and tougher than Jake Paul. He completely smoked him in the shit talking part of the contest and I really do think that Paul is starting to doubt himself. He has never faced a legitimate opponent, whereas Askren has fought killers like Robby Lawler and Jorge Masvidal. There is approximately 0% chance that Askren is scared of Paul, but I think Paul might be having some nerves.

Everyone expects Paul to walk right through Askren. How does he react if that doesn't happen? How does he handle adversity?

I really think Jake puts it on Ben. I can't stand Jake Paul either....

You must be new to the sport if you need "convincing". Pretty obvious to any with a non bias mindset on this topic to realize reality over fiction. How many times has Ben shown an above avg chin with only 4oz gloves on? Paul might be training Boxing recently and looks decent on mitts and against a short ex NBA player, while Ben has had to train Boxing for the past decade or so, sparring with some of the best in Boxing and being touched in the cage by many above avg fighters. Then take into account his clinch work.. it becomes rather obvious to anybody with common sense. Let's not forget that it's not out of the realm of possibility that Ben just takes the kid down over and over again until he gets DQ'd.

If Ben has been training boxing for a decade and still sucks this bad it doesn't bode well for him. This isn't MMA. Clinching is only gonna do so much when the ref keeps breaking it up and resetting them.

people who are saying bens a champion in this and that...... ben has literally never shown any boxing skills in any of his mma fights. He's also going to be undersized here. Jake can win this if he has ANY cardio and paces himself. I really don't see how Ben wins when we've never even seen him show any good boxing skills in any mma org.

I think this fight goes 1 of 2 ways. I'm not sure how many rounds this fight is and that's a big element imo(anyone know). I think either Ben eats some shots and grits through and eventually just outworks Paul and beats him via output.(I think this is probably 55% likely, giving ben a lot of credit for taking shots from real fighters and his high level toughness) or he is just completely outclassed and kod somewhere around round 3.
It's scheduled for 8 rounds.

Lol he will lose badly. Askren cant box. Simple as that. Every talented athlete with 2-3 years of amateur boxing would smoke him. Jake Paul is an athletic guy in his prime, who has trained somewhat like a pro. He is gonna smoke Askren. Some people just cant do certain movements. Askren cant punch and box. He will never be able to.

This .
They are hanging on to the abstraction of "better competitor" , "composed", "tougher" this and that.... But seem to forget that he still has to BOX to win lol.

Askren is a proven winner and a professional combat athlete. He will not get tired.

Paul will gas himself out and get frustrated. Askren is already in his head, and Paul is shook.

He had a training camp for Maia and still gassed in the stand-up. He's certainly not used to having to box.

I hope Jake Paul wins. MMA is such a bs.

Unlike this guy

Jake Paul is taking adrenaline dumps even before the fight while Askren just don't give a fuck. Dollabills! Yes please!

Chin able to eat a small car. Cardio for years clinching and forcing his body around when he does not clinch. Askren by slow unwatchable grind. I will not be watching for sure!

If I was not a part time alcoholic I would put a bet on him. But I have to choose just one addiction. Two will not work out great..

One guy is really tough and proven to be tough as nails. And I would imagine has significantly better cardio.
The other guy started boxing a couple of years ago. Looks better on film and against horrible fighters. Has fought for a few mins in a ring.

things get dicey even in the highest levels of boxing when a less skilled guy can take your best and keeps coming forward.

Paul hasn’t known any adversity in a fight or anything in life.

I do give credit for being able
To fight in front of a large audience and that’s actually very impressive.

I wouldn’t bet on either guy as it’s a mystery match. Ben is tougher and can fight for a long time with great resolve.

It’s a huge deal if you face a legit bad ass man who has no quit with an iron chin.

and you fought two times against bums for a couple mins.

I wouldn’t bet on either guy. As it’s Ben askren boxing is the reality. And will have to win a long ugly game. After round 3 and on. And it depends on what the ref will or will not tolerate.

that Paul seems to be trillers guy and he’s a huge investment for them. So I would imagine the ref to break very frequently and not allow work on the inside.

as the reality. Boxing has been my favorite sport for decades. But man is it corrupt. And there is very any reprocussions. For poor reffing. Judging or anything like that.

And for the promotion putting this together has a massive opportunity with a Paul win.

it’s similar but levels below bkfc with maliganggi and Lobov.

Paulie wasn’t coming to fight again. And he certainly isn’t getting the benefit of the doubt for a one off in their promotion.

it was the same shit with that basketball player. "super athlete" blah blah.

I'll be rooting for Ben but he might get embarrassed here.

Probably the most insightful pseudo intellectual comment you've made yet, cheeto fingers
You have way too much confidence In the stupid shit you say bud.

Try saying rational, logical, well thought out and unbiased things for once and maybe people wouldn’t need to call out your immature garbage so often.

Askren has no chance and if you think he does, you should put some money on it given how good his odds are

Edit: damn the betting lines changed a lot, I’m putting money on paul

Disclaimer: I lost an AV bet, unfortunately. Just so you know lol.

Now,
the closer this fight approaches, the less confident I am in Askren having any real chance of winning. I've heard the likes of Chael and a couple of others say that Askren will win by virtue of "being a competitor" but I don't buy that.
Yes , he's a competitor - a former competitor, who happens to not only be retired, but 36 years old, coming off of hip surgery and he's inconveniently competing in a sport he happens to be absolutely horrendous at.

So what's this competitor stuff? He's not gonna die in there? He's gonna survive eating punches until Jake gasses and then beat him up in the clinch? Idk about all that.

Look, Jake Paul is a clown and nothing would be more glorious to witness on screen than to see him get laid out cold by Ben but if we're being objective here, the kid is young, in good shape, bigger, and he's been taking the sport seriously for a couple of years now.

It's really hard to imagine anything other than Ben collecting the sorriest paycheck of his life - for getting beat up by an obnoxious Youtuber.

Please convince me otherwise Sherbros. I want to have hope!!

After seeing Paul KO literal who in combat sports Nate Robinson I would bet on Askren because Paul is a swing for the fences amateur with no fundamentals. Askren will pepper him up with jabs and uppercuts in the clinch leading to an easy decision.

the professional fighter or the retard who never fought against a professional?

listen to Dana White, bet on Ben he will win.

  • will be adult vs child Askren will Kill The amateur.

Askren has been brought in by Paul’s camp to be a walk through basically.

High probability that’s exactly what happens. Aside from what we’ve seen on camera so far, I think he has genuine natural talent and potential. Especially training with some of the best in the sport, the improvement we’re likely to see since he last fought will be dramatic.

Only real chance I see Askren having here is taking the fight into deeper waters where his experience and toughness begin to play a factor.

Even then, I think it’s very slim. With a proper team and training partners around him, hard to imagine many scenarios where they don’t prepare / drill against everything someone like Askren has to offer.

Ben's boxing sucks but he's tough. I think he could win if Jake doesn't KO him fast.
