Jake make look ok in sparring but in actual fights all he has proven is that he knows how to spam overhand rights.

You really believe askren won't be able to contend with that?

There is a giant problem for Ben, and it's his chin. I don't mean his ability to take a punch, I mean his actual chin. That baby projects 6-8 inches in front of the rest of his face, Jake Paul will sit down on one good hook, graze the crimson chin, and rattle his brain.

And I am not even sure Jake is a better boxer
Good point

It matters. Being a pro athlete makes a difference. Conditioning, ability to absorb damage, knowing how your body reacts etc. Askren has been doing it for 20 years and over 10 as a pro fighter. And I am not even sure Jake is a better boxer, Ben sucks but so does the other guy.
Jake can box

Askren is a proven winner and a professional combat athlete. He will not get tired.
A proven winner in a completely different sport where he did zero boxing.
And you don't know if he's gonna get tired considering he's 36, just had hip surgery and got off his couch.

Physical attributes matter man.
Jake's gonna sit down on a hook and clip poor Ben :(

I hope Jake Paul wins. MMA is such a bs.
A couple of years ago jake paul got bloodied and shaken up boxing a youtuber half his size while wearing a helmet. Since then he has fought some youtuber imitating a crab and a basket ball player that got flustered and ran into a punch with his chin up.
Unlike this guy

Disclaimer: I lost an AV bet, unfortunately. Just so you know lol.

Now,
the closer this fight approaches, the less confident I am in Askren having any real chance of winning. I've heard the likes of Chael and a couple of others say that Askren will win by virtue of "being a competitor" but I don't buy that.
Yes , he's a competitor - a former competitor, who happens to not only be retired, but 36 years old, coming off of hip surgery and he's inconveniently competing in a sport he happens to be absolutely horrendous at.

So what's this competitor stuff? He's not gonna die in there? He's gonna survive eating punches until Jake gasses and then beat him up in the clinch? Idk about all that.

Look, Jake Paul is a clown and nothing would be more glorious to witness on screen than to see him get laid out cold by Ben but if we're being objective here, the kid is young, in good shape, bigger, and he's been taking the sport seriously for a couple of years now.

It's really hard to imagine anything other than Ben collecting the sorriest paycheck of his life - for getting beat up by an obnoxious Youtuber.

Please convince me otherwise Sherbros. I want to have hope!!
You must be new to the sport if you need "convincing". Pretty obvious to any with a non bias mindset on this topic to realize reality over fiction. How many times has Ben shown an above avg chin with only 4oz gloves on? Paul might be training Boxing recently and looks decent on mitts and against a short ex NBA player, while Ben has had to train Boxing for the past decade or so, sparring with some of the best in Boxing and being touched in the cage by many above avg fighters. Then take into account his clinch work.. it becomes rather obvious to anybody with common sense. Let's not forget that it's not out of the realm of possibility that Ben just takes the kid down over and over again until he gets DQ'd.

All Ben has to do is survive early and drag Paul into deep water late.

I don’t know if Paul has the composure to pace himself for 8 rounds against someone who has experience with strikers.

Askren has been training and competing at the highest level for decades. Askren also has not got outwardly flustered and frustrated in competition, even after getting dropped on his head and punched by robbie lawler with 4oz gloves on.

Jake paul is not a fucking boxer and askren is already in his head haha. And how could he not be? Paul is fully aware that askren would kill him in a real fight. The kid is going to get tired, frustrated and ko'd late into the fight.

Fighters start green and they get better

Shocking as that may be

He did "zero boxing"? Geezus, some of you people on here, need help

Some refs dont allow the clinch for even half a second. Ben could pressure him, but could get outstruck doing it. Common sense tells me Ben loses by decision but I hope he wins by KO. I have no idea and wouldnt bet a dime on it.

if i was Jake's coach he would jab and move and only throw about 2-3 big heavy rights a round.

80-100 jabs to 2-3 rights a round. and load up on those rights.

win by easy decision or get the KO.

Ben would start looking foolish tryin to get inside on a younger taller longer boxer and really make a mockery of this spectacle which i absolutely will not pay for.

and for all those saying Jake isnt a boxer. name me another boxer who is getting paid big cash for whats basically a smoker that any amatuer would go thru except instead of someone his own age and similar pedigree its a old wrestler turned MMA fighter.

its a farce, but it cover's the fundamentals of what a prize fight is.

I've seen more striking in Jake Paul's two fights than Ben's entire career. I don't think relying on Jake Paul to punch himself out is a good strategy.

Paul will gas himself out and get frustrated. Askren is already in his head, and Paul is shook.

I agree with this.
The difference between aAskren and Nate Robinson is Askren knows how to take punches and clinch and dirty box.

He knows how to get inside.

I think this fight goes 1 of 2 ways. I'm not sure how many rounds this fight is and that's a big element imo(anyone know). I think either Ben eats some shots and grits through and eventually just outworks Paul and beats him via output.(I think this is probably 55% likely, giving ben a lot of credit for taking shots from real fighters and his high level toughness) or he is just completely outclassed and kod somewhere around round 3.

Yes, I'm entirely new to the sport, why don't you educate me? Lol
I said to convince me as s figure of speech, to start a conversation not to be taken at face value..

You, as a former pro fighter shouldn't be oblivious to the importance of size, speed, youth and physical attributes in boxing.

Askren is a 36 year old retired fighter, who just had hip surgery literally months ago and is getting off his couch to fight a young kid that's bigger , younger, and faster than him who actually knows how to generate some power in his punches.

It's entirely possible that Askren gets clipped and finished early, and I hope you come back to discuss if that's the case.
