Anyone still not sold on Paddy?

Paddy went from underrated to overrated. He's better than many people originally thought, but the Chandler win has people overcompensating. Chandler is about to be 39, has lost 5 out of 6, and clearly has one foot out the door.

I'd say Paddy is a fringe top 15 LW.

Idk about the whole "weight class bigger thing" sometimes the eye test doesn't work, Whittaker looked at least 20lbs smaller than Dricus but Whittaker actually cuts a decent amount of weight if you look at his same night weigh in results so there is no way that is possible. Chandler is extremely stocky, super Jacked and while not that tall he is 5'8. Wouldn't be surprised if they weighed around the same.

He looked impressive as shit but Chandler was not able to do anything so I'm curious to see how he does in a competitive fight where he gets hurt badly. I thought we were going to see that against Chandler since Chandler typically hurts everybody he fights.

If Paddy beats Poirier then it's because Dustin is washed up and 37 and will have lost 4 of his last 6 fights...

If Paddy beats Gaethje then it's because Gaethje is washed up and 37 and will have lost 4 of his last 8 fights...

If Paddy beats Charles then it's because Charles is washed up and 36 and will have lost 3 out of his last 5 fights
and if Paddy loses to them it's because he was rushed and needed more time.

Lol

Like clockwork, check out post #21.

Dude Chandler is 2-5 in the UFC, came to the UFC off a loss in Bellator, lost in Bellator to Will Brooks twice (who was never that good)

I'd put him in the top 10 (maybe 9 or 10) but that is most certainly the highest I would put him

I’m sold on him, but I have no idea how he does against the guys ranked above him. Hope he gets a fight booked soon.

The guy has beat everyone they put in front of him, all convincingly aside from Gordon.

Even if they are giving him favorable matchups 7-0 is pretty damn good. They were ready to give Chandler to McGregor, so he is if nothing else a name the UFC thinks relatively high of. The guy is one away from a title shot, two at most.

This is coming from a Paddy hater tbh.

Yeah, not like Chandler was on a two fight losing streak coming into this fight, and has lost to all three of the names you mentioned. Not like you added an extra year to each of those guys ages. Not like Chandler couldn’t even make it in Bellator and only has two extremely poor, low level wins in the UFC.

I figured his ceiling might be a #8 ranking. Right place right time though, and lots of the LWs are aging. I'd take Islam over Paddy but Paddy certainly could win.

The UFC is pushing this dude hard so they can pimp him. His career will continue to be calculated.

In fairness TS mentioned Ilia & Arman. Not sure why you didn't address that

People obsess with the 35 up rule. Modern nutrition and training has maintained lots of high level boxers. Mma is no different. It's 40 where their career is usually doomed.

Not true at smaller weights
It’s occurring before everyone’s eyes at this point. 33-37 seems to about the age where most fighters are still competitive even at the lower weight classes.

I think Paddy is a top 4-8 fighter, which is much higher than I thought he’d be. I don’t expect him to be champ unless the stars align.

I'm sold on Paddy being a quality fighter and not just the next UFC hype train. I am not convinced he is top-5 material yet, though.
