Anyone here doesn't like Robert Whittaker?

Just because Rob isn't a loud mouthed ass clown, some guys think he has no personality. Just because he's only lost to two guys in the last nine years and isn't champ, some think he's past it. He's the third best Middleweight of all time.

To put his lack of finishes into perspective, Vettori eats 241 total strikes against Cannonier, doesn't get finished or even dropped for that matter. Whittaker doesn't finish him despite soundly outclassing him and hurting him multiple times? He's a point fighter.

Gastelum is known for an iron chin and has never been finished by strikes in 27 fights. Whittaker outstrikes him 169 to 70 but doesn't finish him. He's a point fighter.

Cannonier has never been finished at Middleweight, was knocked down by Bobby who also broke his arm and soundly beat him, but Whittaker didn't get the finish. He's a point fighter.

Till has 23 career fights and has never been finished by strikes at Middleweight. Whittaker beats him, lands more strikes at 100 to 50 and drops him. No finish? He's a point fighter.

Whittaker's last seven opponents not named Israel Adesanya have fought 162 times in their careers. They've only been finished by strikes six total times in their careers.

Damn point fighter.

I find his fights quite boring and his stand-up techniques quite predictable. The guy's last finish was 7 years ago. Besides that he's just an annoying gatekeeper that will go nowhere and can prevent more exciting fighters to flourish in this division, I was happy that DDP TKOed him. If you agree with me please provide your thoughts, if you don't that's fine but this discussion is not for you and there's no reason for you to comment here. Thanks

Whittaker is a cool dude, but I actually hate everything about his fighting technique and style.

I absolutely hate his chest-thumping routine, before every fight.

He used to have some big balls, but (like Costa) has become more worried about "being hit" then he desires to "do the hitting" ...

IMO, "defensive awareness" is important, so long as it is ensconced in intrinsic training, rather than "obvious personal worry" ...

When I see any fighter more worried about "being hit" then doing the hitting, I no longer care about that cautious, flinching fighter.

Whittaker and Costa are both in the latter zone.

Well there are a few types of fans, one group of fans are ones that like to see stategic skill and teqnique and the other group are the fans that like a brawl ko type of ending fights. Rob wins fights, thats what matters.

Bisping and Rogan certainly seemed to hate him based on their terrible commentary in that fight.

To be fair to Rogan, it's likely that he was just struggling to keep a lid on his physical attraction to Costa rather than hating Whittaker.

I feel you bruh, I think in the PBP thread, in the first round I posted 'Rogan is being a turd'.

Thx for the explanation though lololol

I don't dislike him, I think he's probably still a top 5 talent in the MW division.

But he says stuff I find annoying once in a while. I also find his accomplishments blown out of proportion so I get called a "hater" if I point stuff out.

Don't mention that he's only faced 2 UFC champions (Izzy and DDP) and lost to both of them.
Dont' bring up that his whole title run was winning a vacant belt and defending once against the same guy he just beat for vacant belt.

He's one of my favorites. Great fighter and usually in fun fights, and seems like a decent guy

Honestly never been a fan and always root against him. But it's not due to him as a person. He seems like a great guy, but I only find his fights exciting when he's getting his ass kicked. It's strange because I think he's one of the nicest guys in MMA.

I was in his hype train since Tavares fight. I picked him in every fight after that (I don't remember if i picked him or Tavares then). He has beautiful striking to watch, amazing tdd, great takedowns. Even if it goes to decisions, those are nice techmical fights. He has power despite not finishing fight in years. He is humble and authentic. I don't know how can anyone dislike anything about him

He’s 13-3 in the UFC and a former champ that is 1-2 fights away from yet another title shot. Kindly shove your head back up your ass if you’re gonna call that a “gatekeeper.”
