Form Anyone here do human flags?

Yeah, I feel bad for no response given the great responses I've got in the thread, but I don't really have much to say on skin the cat on a bar, having zero experience with it. That said, if you have access to rings, is there an issue just working it there? Whatever issues you have with the bar might at least be lessened through that, right? And if nothing else, you're working a similar set of muscles.
All good. Preciate the response. I know there's not a ton of interest in calisthenics and even less in a power lifting forum. Have been trying to work on a backflip dismount from the high bar but I'm scared my feet aren't going to clear it in time , causing a face plant. Which not being able to do a Bar skin the cat is confirming the face plant. Unless launching off harder then flip .

Have access to 3 sets of rings and bars. Ring heights are ground to 10 ft , bar heights at 5ft , 7ft, 9ft, 10ft. Home gym out of control.

Hey, I refute that this is a powerlifting forum. It says strength and conditioning right? Maybe some dudes want to post about powerlifting, but its no more or less on topic than calisthenics. We're 200% on topic and Karl Gotch would probably say we're more on topic, likewise for ginastica natural BJJ'ists.

I'm gonna look into skin the cat a little more and see if I don't have anything useful to say. What about doing a tucked version at least initially? And then non-tucked on the rings? That's one thought.

Agreed with the S&C range of discussion. Thats just been the general consensus, if you aren't doing SBD then it doesn't belong here.
Don't put much effort into research. It was just a curious thought of the day when it was very clear that I couldn't do what looked to be a beginners move. Might just be a small-body move. Am no purist in gym, just a hobbiest that loves the strength carry over and stabilizer balance. Posted a short clip of the random shit I roll through on most training sessions , it's in the Logs section that isn't updated anymore.

I have become increasingly interested in calisthenics.

The issue for me is that being on the heavier side it doesn't work to my advantage. However some exercises are super badass like planches, handstand push ups, one arm pull ups and muscles, dragon squats, etc...some of these feats are as rare as a 800 lb deadlift....when I see them online I have a huge amount of respect for the dedication it takes to achieve those feats...

For example there are specialists in calisthenics dedicated to specific skills like one arm hand stand push ups, reverse planche(forget the name) or maltese push ups.

It would be cool to have a dedicated calisthenics thread here.

Was that stigma kinda like male gymnast , it wasn't cool to talk about with typical gym bros. You watch these vids of humans floating and defying gravity and don't think much of it until you attempt just to get into a starting position and can't hold self up or steady. Newfound respect for the park flippers.

It's humbling learning how much control you do not have over your body. But the balance carryover is huge when you're back on your feet. So much lighter on toes and able to redirect movements or recover a stumble. Bonus in the parallel bars & rings making your shoulders & arms respond like newbie gains.

How come back levers are a tad easier with open stance over legs together? Does it put the weight closer to your hands ? Kinda like moving the load to the center of the balancing point

That is a good question. I don't know exactly why, but they are.

Rarely post here but if theres a few guys why not have a calisthenics dedicated thread? I've enjoyed training this way for the past year or two. Just got to motivate myself and set time aside to work on some of the skills.

Agree with this. It's addicting trying to lift yourself off the ground.
