Health Anyone had PRP therapy?

Had it done to both Achilles. Still blew one out.

I remember Cro Cop getting this, though he combined it with HGH.

I can't think of other fighters who got PRP, most of them seem to get cell therapy for chronic injuries.

It stopped the pain?
Yep - very effective. For 2-3 days after the injection it hurt like a bastard though, I was warned about this so did it on a Friday and chilled that weekend.

How long it lasts will remain to be seen but glad I went ahead with it.

Cool, good to hear. I have heard the first time at least, is good for 18 months to two years... but I guess everyone's different.

My shoulders are probably 80-90% now so I guess, if I keep slowly recovering, I hopefully won't need it.

Sounds like good progress, win.

Not sure if you mentioned it, how much did they quote you to do it?

I think it was $600 total for both shoulders, so not a lot but I didn't want to do it if it wasn't required.

I'm thinking at this point that maybe I should have done it to help the tears heal faster. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.

Well, I finally booked in to get it done. The doctor was correct that one shoulder healed on its own... the left one however, probably got back to about 80% and just stayed there. If it hasn't healed in nearly a year with a metric buttload of rehab, I think that it's pretty unlikely to get any better on its own at this point. *sigh*

Wish me luck (For the 6th December as I couldn't get in any sooner)

Good luck. Expect to need to chill for a couple of days after.

Thanks. Apparently I'll need to uber there and back as I'm not supposed to drive afterwards.
Update us on your recovery, bud. Been following this treatment for a while and am interested.

Well... off to a good start, hit a nerve or something while taking the blood out and hurt like a son of a bitch <lol>

Took out much less blood to spin than I was expecting. At least the ultrasound could clearly see the tear so they know exactly where the issue is.

/shrugs

Oooof damn. At least it’s over with now.
Yeah, sticking a big needle into my shoulder multiple times with no local was fun LOL

Apparently the tear was going right up into the joint somehow and preventing it from healing properly.

Crossing fingers.

Your knees are still good after you had it done?
