Anyone else miss Japan?

So, it is Azerbaijani, which is intelligible to Turks. They signed some big time deal with some entity there, not sure if they're government related or a private entity, but they're obviously throwing big money at RIZIN and funneling fighters to them. People will read that and think, "Who the fuck cares," maybe not realizing Azerbaijan is in the Caucasus region and this is a big move to get RIZIN a footprint in an area that hasn't been tapped by UFC/et al. They had two Azerbaijani fighters on the last card (although I believe one of them was really signed to Bellator, but has previously fought for RIZIN), and those dudes are legit. If their performances are any indication, RIZIN is going to have a ton of high level international talent pretty quickly. They're staging events in Azerbaijan, coming up, and I expect they're about to sign a ton of unknown talent from the Turkish/Armenian/Caucasus/Caspian region.

And I'm stoked.

Yes it was. It doesn't matter how primitive it was, it was the first version of this sport. You can make the same argument about boxing since it was almost a different sport in the beginning, in fact it had quite a bit of standing grappling in it. But it was still boxing. No boxing fan in the world is gonna tell you that the sport is only as old as the Marquess of Queensberry Rules.

Good that you admit the Ring idea for MMA was idiotic, but you're digging yourself a hole here with these other arguments, so do all these Pride fans. Whatever drama the North American MMA brings, nothing is more outrageous than Japanese MMA. It was cringy. I would never be able to show my friends that format of MMA without getting laughed at. Half ass pro wrestling, even had fixed fights. And I mean you're complaining about the BMF belt. That's what your Pride did, with Minowaman and Sakuraba's stupid fucking kiddy belts. Lets not turn into hypocrites.
lol @ caring what your friends thought about the stuff you watched. Also Puroresu is indeed, strong.

As I told my other bud, I'll corner you if you do it. However, I probably won't be allowed into Japan, so it will have to be through Zoom or something comparable, and I can really only give emotional support, idk shit about cornering and I won't be there to grease your eyebrows and pour water down your shorts. As long as you're good with those stipulations, let's ride.
lol bet. Ill keep that in mind. Maybe we can get one of those robots that you can control with the tablet on top of it. So you can have a physical presence while zoomed in lol

What's your point? It can be in Japanese and still be absolutely fucking epic.

the point is that that's the reason why so many of us aren't tuning into Rizin events. We don't speak or read fuckin Japanese. We don't know who's on the cards, when they are, etc

edit: but yeah that promo is pretty epic

TBF Rizin is absolute shit at promoting outside of Japan. 100% of the promotional material I've seen from them is in Japanese.
PRIDE didnt really do any different until the end when they desperatley tried to do shit over here when they lost their TV deal. Only hardcores followed PRIDE in the US when it was around.

They had Bas and Quadros do some english stuff, but it was mostly very low budget goofy stuff (which I still love, but lets call it what it was)

I think maybe I can just become Arnim Zola and circumvent Japanese law. Arnim Zola is essentially what you just posted, but with a body.

It's a ton to undertake just to corner your fight, but I bet we win. One way or another. Maybe not the battle, but certainly the war.

What im saying is,back then if PRIDE did a ppv lets say,it took A YEAR for it to be released in the states. Its not really something you would find unless you knew it existed, and looked for it. You can just throw RIZIN on youtube and watch it.This was not the case for PRIDE.

There's this thing called the internet where you can search for pretty much any information in the world.

Before TUF,before Youtube, you had to be dedicated. Sherdog was extremely helpful for gaining knowledge about fighters and events. There were amazing fights outside of the UFC,and if you wanted to see them, you had to do WORK and spend money to find them. Now,people can find anything they want in two seconds, but dont want to lol

When someone says "fight pass isnt worth the money"

BAM just hit em right in the fuckin mouth. Slug em in the cock.

All that work, to find a vid in like 24p with squiggly lines all over the place. Fuck, even DREAM was a task. Trying to wade through Nico Nico Doga, finally finding a stream, and then the stream being invite only lol.

Truly was tough in years past. Very thankful those days are over.
