Anyone else miss Japan?

US fans have been pretty terrible at every event I have ever been to, but hopefully they are at least more knowledgeable now.
They are not there to watch theatre or ballet

Their best guy was average at best Fedor so nope

Not all of it is gone.. just Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This thread is exaggerating …

that’s more offensive than my comment.

pride champs easily beat up all the UFC champs every crossover event. people who lie about that have small testicles and low IQ.

in fact the pride guys that entered UFC after the purchase, got weaker.

I don't think I've ever felt anything like a Japanese event

I don't think martial arts is meant to be treated like a boxing event

Well someone just found out about Pride FC lol ..

Also theres plenty of Japanese MMA going on ...

It hasnt gone anywhere .. just gotta look for it

Anything held in a boxing ring is inherently worse than anything held in a cage. It is so cringe watching the ref pause the action and drag the grappling fighters away from the ropes cause they're slipping through. Or even sometimes officials outside the ring physically touch the fighters to try to redirect their heads/limbs back into the cage. Like ffs if you're going to have an official touching the fighter to keep them in the ring, why not replace that official with a fence?

I haven't watched RIZN but this thread is inspiring me to do so.
Start with RIZIN 43, bud. If that one doesn't pique your interest, none will. We had flying knee KOs, some twister variation that possibly doesn't even have a name, female one punch KOs, unnecessary soccer kicks after the fighter was already KO... It was a night to behold. A bit of everything you might want as a fan.

We can't pretend the talent level is the same - Pride just had something special back in the day.

It isn't as deep, but they had the current two best LHWs in the world on their roster at the same time, and a HW who will challenge for the ONE HW title in his next out. And that is with very little focus on those weight classes for basically the org's entire existence.

Sakakibara is among the best this sport has seen at finding talent. Just bc the name isn't yet known, doesn't mean the potential isn't there. Their roster has been and still is solid, and with their new deal that gets them a footprint in the Caucasus region, business should he booming for some time to come.

Im a hardcore PrideFC (and K1) fan but it was very different from what we have with the UFC and as much as I miss it I still like the UFC more. Its possible to miss and appretiate something and simultaneously accept that the present is better.

This is what people who are clueless about Japan and think a cage is better than a ring look like.

This is what a man that has seen it all but just has a preference looks like.

It's still there IIRC.

Big time miss Pride era. I know they have a lot of mini weight fights these days and a lot of top mini weight fighters but it's hard to get interested.

Most people saying “I miss jmma” just mean they miss the freak show fights. None of you watch Shooto, Pancrase, or Deep. None of you watch RIZIN. Most of you weren’t even around when Pride was around. You don’t miss JMMA, you just want attention
