Anyone else eating their crow with extra salt?

He's a business man. I figured he'd move up once the time was right. If I were him, it would be hard to get excited about defending against Reyes again or guys like Jan. He's entering the final years of his prime and it's time to move up to Heavyweight if the money and opportunities are right. With guys like Stipe as champ, he has a good chance of being champion.

To his point, UFC didn't wan to renegotiate his contract and give him more money for moving up. If you care about legacy like Jones does, what incentive is there to move up at that point? UFC is going to benefit by you moving up and he deserves a significant bump in pay to risk is legacy and go into these big fights.

So It's offical. Dana says The LHW belt is up for grabs, and supposedly Jan and Reyes are fighting for it.

Is there anyone here who truly believed that Jones would one day move to heavy weight?

He's been alluding to this since 2013, and it's pretty much always been nothing but hot air. I always thought he didn't have the frame to be a good HW and also his lack of punching power is apparent. I Quite frankly, Could never see him doing good at HW. I Always assumed he thought the same thing.

I think One thing is certain, if Jones goes to HW. He is NEVER coming back to LHW. his career in that weight class is over. If he really wants success at HW, he needs to put on weight.

So, hats off to Jones. Who proved me wrong on something I so staunchly believed he would never do.

Only reason hes doing it is because he knows a rematch with Reyes wont go well. Hes better off moving up and negotiating a big HW fighr to cash in on.

He’s going up ONLY for a Stipe fight. He got to “guage” him with Cormier going out there 3x and finding success.

I can almost guarantee he will NOT fight anyone else at HW. He wants to grab up that belt and run back to LHW or retire.

For all we know, Jones dropped the belt because of USADA or something. They don't tell us shit publicly anymore. It all happens behind the scenes. No one knows until the reason is actually announced. We'll find out in a few months if he's going up to HW or a year it was USADA or something else. Or if he's actually retired, we'll never hear anything.
no idea what you're saying. every usada doping violation sanction is reported.

Jones will fight scarier guys at hevyweight but yet he is scared of Reyes<Lmaoo>I dont think Jones has the same fire at light hevyweight as he use to. For fuck sake Khabib will probably retire after 14 fights in the UFC,Jones have almost as many titel defenses as Khabib have fights.

I think him sitting out is more about the money if you see his tweets on the situation. Once we see him sign on for a HW fight then I guess we can go there.

His last 2 fights were the only ones in his career that warranted a rematch because many people thought he lost them, he didn’t want nothing to do with running it back so idk I kinda question what he really has left.....we forget how bad he’s looked lately in comparison to the bulk of his run

Jones is by far the biggest LHW and one of the strongest.

It's a bit odd... normally you don't have to vacate right away just because you move up, missing the opportunity to become double champ and also to go back down still a champ if necessary.

If it happens I'm not so sure it will turn out to be a good move, but very interested to see it (right or wrong).

Did he retire or officially announce a fight at heavyweight??

with Ngannou looming in the HW division, getting the belt (or trying to) and then retiring seems to be a popular strategy.

I find it amusing that no one calls DC out for never even considering fighting Francis.
He'll fight lewis on short notice though
