I gotta go with the classic Jack the Ripper, everything about that whole story is creepy and intense and morbidly fascinating

also this guy

the 'King of the Thugs', was a leader of the Thuggee cult active in Oudh in northern central India during the late 18th and early 19th century, and is often cited as one of the world's most prolific serial killers. He may have been involved in up to 931 murders by strangulation between 1790–1840 performed with a ceremonial cloth (or rumal, which in Hindi means handkerchief), used by his cult.[1][2][3] Behram was executed in 1840 by hanging.

In the 19th century, it was the site of a notorious French criminal scandal known as "the Red Inn affair". The owners of the inn, Pierre and Marie Martin, and their employee Jean Rochette were arrested in 1831 after a customer, Jean-Antoine Enjolras, was found dead by a nearby river, his skull smashed in. They were later charged with his murder. During the subsequent trial, numerous witnesses testified to other crimes committed by the accused, including up to fifty murders at the inn, and to aggravating circumstances of rape and cannibalism.

William Burke and William Hare

Lured, intoxicated and murdered people to sell their bodies to Dr. Robert Knox who used them in his anatomy classes at Edinburgh Medical School. Their usual method was compressing the chest of the victims in a process henceforth known as "burking".

I'll admit it. I have a major fascination with serial killers. If there is a documentary on one, I'm watching it. The 2 that stick out in my mind as the most interesting cases are Edmund Kemper and Jack the Ripper. Kemper is fascinating to me because he was an absolute genius with a reported IQ above 160 (some reports as high as 180). Jack the Ripper is interesting because of the mystique behind it and the "who done it?" aspect of it. I have a pretty good idea of who it was (or at least have it narrowed down to 2 people). BTK, Ridgeway, and Bundy are also quite interesting to read up on. BTK solely because he took a major hiatus but the something triggered in his brain and he went back to it.

Wondering how many people are going to say Kemper now that he was a major part in Mindhunter. Been saying for a while that he was a fascinating character.

Read up about Pedro Lopez ("Monster of the Andes"), if you've not heard about him.

He confessed to killing over 300 children and was released after doing about 14 years in prison and then around 4 years in a psychiatric hospital, after which a psychiatrist declared him sane. He was released on a $50 bail and never seen again.
How the fuck is that even possible? Who does that?

I’ve read too much about serial killers than I’d like to admit.

Son of Sam and Zodiac probably stand out the most to me mainly because of the way they taunted the police and media. They were real life super villians.

This is probably the most chilling scene I’ve ever seen from a movie because of how accurate it’s told. It’s harrowing to think this actually happened to people.

Nah. They get too much celebrity-style attention & fandom as it is.

pretty sure its a white ppl thing to "like" serial killers. swear to god. ive not met one weird ass person that liked serial killers that wasnt white lol.
Interesting how it's acceptable to generalize about white people but if you mention a stereotype about another race than there's an immediate backlash.

I prefer to not praise real serial killers by saying I have a 'favorite,' but I have no problem with it in reguards to fictional serial killers.

Gotta go with Jigsaw.

Saw 1&2 are on my list of the GOAT horror movies.

The homie The Axeman of New Orleans. Why him? Well he only killed with an axe, so he wasn't a pussy and used guns or shit. Never got caught either, so he is a badass. Now thats not why he is my favorite. He is my favorite, cause he likes jazz.

Hell, March 13, 1919

Esteemed Mortal of New Orleans:

They have never caught me and they never will. They have never seen me, for I am invisible, even as the ether that surrounds your earth. I am not a human being, but a spirit and a demon from the hottest hell. I am what you Orleanians and your foolish police call the Axeman.

When I see fit, I shall come and claim other victims. I alone know whom they shall be. I shall leave no clue except my bloody axe, besmeared with blood and brains of he whom I have sent below to keep me company.

If you wish you may tell the police to be careful not to rile me. Of course, I am a reasonable spirit. I take no offense at the way they have conducted their investigations in the past. In fact, they have been so utterly stupid as to not only amuse me, but His Satanic Majesty, Francis Josef, etc. But tell them to beware. Let them not try to discover what I am, for it were better that they were never born than to incur the wrath of the Axeman. I don't think there is any need of such a warning, for I feel sure the police will always dodge me, as they have in the past. They are wise and know how to keep away from all harm.

Undoubtedly, you Orleanians think of me as a most horrible murderer, which I am, but I could be much worse if I wanted to. If I wished, I could pay a visit to your city every night. At will I could slay thousands of your best citizens (and the worst), for I am in close relationship with the Angel of Death.

Now, to be exact, at 12:15 (earthly time) on next Tuesday night, I am going to pass over New Orleans. In my infinite mercy, I am going to make a little proposition to you people. Here it is:

I am very fond of jazz music, and I swear by all the devils in the nether regions that every person shall be spared in whose home a jazz band is in full swing at the time I have just mentioned. If everyone has a jazz band going, well, then, so much the better for you people. One thing is certain and that is that some of your people who do not jazz it out on that specific Tuesday night (if there be any) will get the axe.

Well, as I am cold and crave the warmth of my native Tartarus, and it is about time I leave your earthly home, I will cease my discourse. Hoping that thou wilt publish this, that it may go well with thee, I have been, am and will be the worst spirit that ever existed either in fact or realm of fancy.

What a guy!

How the fuck is that even possible? Who does that?
Not to use it as an excuse, but he had an extremely fucked up childhood (details in spoiler tag). I think it's a combination of nature and nurture, he might have lived a normal life (but still been 'fucked in the head') but due to his traumatic experiences during childhood and early adult life, it sent him down a different path.

Pedro Alonzo Lopez was born on October 8, 1948 in Santa Isabel, Colombia. His father, Medardo Reyes, was a member of the country’s right wing party who was killed in La Violencia, the armed conflict of the era that would have repercussions for years to come. Lopez’s mother Benilda was three months pregnant with her son at the time of his father’s death. Pedro, who was reportedly the seventh child among 13 siblings, was polite as a boy and wanted to be a teacher according to his mother.

But Lopez later said his mother was physically abusive and a sex worker who also was assaulted by clients. Some reports have claimed that he was kicked out of the house by Benilda after fondling a younger sister while other accounts say he ran away. Lopez traveled to Bogota, the capital city of Colombia, where he became one of the homeless children known as “gamines.” He eventually joined a gang and smoked basuco, an impure form of cocaine. While on the streets, a stranger approached Lopez and offered him a bed, but instead took the youngster to an abandoned building and sexually assaulted him.

When he was 10 years old, Lopez said that an elderly American couple found him on the streets and gave him a home, enrolling him at a school for orphans. But while there Lopez was molested by a teacher when he was 12, and he thus ran away once again. Lopez would eventually speak of wanting vengeance for his suffering as a child.

Having grown up on the streets, Lopez was arrested at 21 years old (some reports say he was 18) for stealing a car. Soon after his imprisonment, he was raped by at least two men and in retaliation killed his attackers with a makeshift knife. Accounts differ on whether he received additional jail time for the murders.

The incompetence of the the police didn't help. In Peru he was caught by a tribal community when trying to kidnap a young girl and was going to be buried alive for this crime. But a western missionary convinced the tribe to hand him over to the polce and then police just deported him back to Colombia without further investigation. And because he targeted poor communities the police in Ecuador (where he later travelled to) didn't bother investigating reports of children going missing. It was only when a rich business owner reported his daughter missing that the police took notice.

I find being obsessed with serial killers creepy af. I used to know this really hot half Asian half white chick that had this big picture of The Last Supper in her bedroom. Except instead of Jesus and his disciples it was Manson and a bunch of other serial killers. Was really off-putting.

That being said Jack the Ripper because of the mystery of it all.

Alright ya little shits! Let's talk about serial killers! First I gotta throw out ma boy:

Quality DAMN show even if the last few seasons were wanting.

I guess I gotta go with a classic. John Wayne Gacy. Dude was fucked up. Dressed as a clown (which I hate and terrify me!) and his main prey were children! Dude was a sick fuck!

GUERNICA don't fuck with clowns brah!

#GUERNICAbless

lol

Where you at Guernica bud?

Thread mentally logged to make fun of hulk at a future date

I meant what jackass let him go free?
Because at the time the maximum sentence for muder was 16 years and as he was declared sane they couldn't legally hold him any longer. You would have thought the politicians would have pushed through a law to change it at the time but nope.
