Digital Spy - 4/5
Free of the bloated running time we've come to expect from summer movies, it's a hugely entertaining superhero comedy that's a refreshing break from Marvel formula.

HeyUGuys - 4/5
Not only working as an out and out comedy, Ant-Man proves its originality by being the first heist movie included in the Marvel franchise.

TheShiznit.co.uk - 4/5
It all adds up to a film that is just so much brilliant funtimes.

Forbes
Marvel has done it again... It's delightfully unexpected in its willingness to scale down, yet in doing so shows us how remarkable and important the smaller things in life truly are, after all.

Uproxx - 5/10
Even with such a weird concept about a guy who can shrink and then communicate with ants ... there's way too much that feels familiar here.

CraveOnline - 7.5/10
Clunky and strange but refreshingly simple.

ScreenCrush - 5/10
As generic as comic-book movies come.

Vanity Fair
You can see, especially in that final, hilarious m

I was just reading the Rotten Tomatoes reviews and am happy to see that almost half the critics are calling it generic and "too safe", which are exactly the things you don't get when you have Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish on a project. I hope this thing tanks, hard.

I hope it doesn't tank. I'm just not really feeling that vindictive about something I had nothing to do with.

Ant man alone wont be as big as ant man surrounded w/ avengers

Nope! It's already climbed to 71% and will probably hit 80%.

The first two reviews praise its originality.

But I don't think it'll reach 80% on RT. It'll probably settle in the low 70s.

Is it me or does everything now have to be the greatest thing ever or a steaming pile of shit? Like sports, movies, games, etc.

You would think edgar's movies would make a ton of money based off how much bitching there was when he left ant-man, just sayin. Either way cant wait to see this on Thursday. The footage they have shown when he shrinks down has looked really cool.

That's the internet plus people feeling entitled and cynicism today is more rampant then ever cause of the internet.

I for one am stoked for it. Been anticipating this one for a while especially since the 2nd trailer redeemed itself for me. I can enjoy a silly comic book movie and not feel it has to be a masterpiece to get some enjoyment from it, or get my panties in a bunch cause some director I don't know personally didn't get his way, waah waaah boo fuckin' hoo.

Ya, movie looks great especially the special effects. It sounded like edgar wanted to make an ant man movie that didn't take place within the mcu essentially. That's why I found it weird when dc said that they are going to let their directors do what they want basically. So continuity could get screwy, at least that's the way I took what they said.

I ran into a post on another forum that I thought explained avengers aou pretty well. It also took me multiple viewings to fully grasp the whole movie and the amazing action scenes imo.

I have watched AOU several times and loved it. I love the themes in it. Are the Avengers Gods, Monsters or both. Is Ultron's assessment right and the Avengers are a virus just making everything worse by trying to save a world that is doomed anyway. Change only comes through death and rebirth. Yet the Avengers don't realize this and try to stop catastrophic change from happening at every turn. Even though none of them would be Avengers if each hadn't died to former lives and been reborn as they are now. Even the Super Soldier program was called Project Rebirth. So even though Ultron was trying to speed up the process, he may have been right in his assessment that the Avengers are the problem holding back humanity from changing into something greater or advancing. A lot of deep stuff in AOU if you follow the dialogue. Gods or Monsters which are they, I think a little bit of both.

So who is also seeing ant man on Thursday night?

I'm looking forward to seeing it.
