Hilarious fan-made poster.

I hope Ant-Man bombs hard, but they probably would market it like this even if they were sure it was going to be a hit. It's just smart business to try to pull in the Avengers audience.

I don't remember them pushing GotG with such heavy tie-in advertising (granted, being in space makes that harder to pull off) and that film it was just as big a gamble as Ant-Man. Maybe even bigger with GotG having to introduce a whole new aspect of the setting and a full ensemble crew.

I think the big difference is the reception of their first trailers. If you go back to the previous Ant-Man thread and read the initial reactions they're mostly bad/mediocre/underwhelming. If Ant-Man had the kind of buzz I remember from GotG a month out I'm not so sure they'd be relying so heavily on the other characters to put asses in seats.

This statement is quite baffling to me. Ant-Man's gimmick is that he can shrink to a size of an ant. The promotional posters you were complaining is just a clever way to emphasize the tiny part. They also did a few teaser posters in the past that shows off his powers.

I don't see why. Those two posters show off his power without needing the selling power of other characters. You can do all kinds of crazy perspective or creative stuff (like that Russian poster, which is awesome) to show off his power without having it look like a poster for Iron Man 4.

They used the other characters weapons, not the characters. Who cares anyways, if they didn't do it eventually ppl would be calling them morons, and yes it would be moronic not to use it. It wouldn't make sense to do it with gotg since the only connection is thanos. Ant man is on the same fucking planet and unless the movie is happening before avengers 1 or 2 then they have to mention what has happened until now.

Also they did put in every trailer for gotg that this is the studio that brought you avengers iron man captain America, etc.

Did anyone see the six minute Imax sneak peek? Really interested to know what the scene was.

Well for one thing Ant Man is a long time member of the Avengers in the comics as well, so they're probably both using those images for marketing, but also to hint to fans that he will be merged into the Avengers sooner or later. He was a big part of the civil war as well.

have the reviews matched close with press screenings when it comes to marvel movies?

Pretty good reviews. I'm excited to see this one.

I'll probably wait until bluray before I watch this. Unless I went to get out of the house and no other movie is out.

Welp, I'm sold. Not like it would've taken much anyway. lol

I know I generally don't trust them. IM3 was awful but the early twitter posters mostly loved it [LINK]. That doesn't mean Ant Man will suck, but I always wait for more detailed reviews.

Looks like most who have seen it like it. No one should take the twitter reactions to heart, especially the ppl that have ridiculously high standards or are expecting a different film altogether. Also I don't know why so many ppl hate IM3 lol.

Gotcha. I felt like this movie is nothing more than having to just go on netflix for a time killer

like to see him in infinity war though.

The trailer looked decent. The whole theatre was cracking up at the part with the toy train, it really was hilarious. That said, it might be the best part of the whole movie. I'll definitely check this out but not sure if I'll go to the theatre for it.

I really like Paul Rudd. I always thought he was a better supporting actor similar to Sam Rockwell.

I will watch this for sure though.

The same thing happened with Jurassic World. Everyone was raving about it initially but then the reviews were underwhelming.

10-Minute B-Roll Footage from Marvel's ANT-MAN

I never trust these pre-release early reactions. Never. They are almost always way to positive and are biased.
