i saw that and thought for sure it was a photoshop

The same thing happened with Jurassic World. Everyone was raving about it initially but then the reviews were underwhelming.

Movie turned out to be good so twitter reactions were right.

To the person who said Paul Rudd is at his best as a supporting actor I agree. A few years ago I was watching a movie(don't remember what it was) starring Paul Rudd but I remember thinking at some point that Paul Rudd is more of a supporting actor.. Hope he proves me wrong with Ant-Man!

Obviously it was hahah.

Anyone know if it's a small or big role? I remember he was cringe-worthy in his small role in American Gangster.
Heard he was good in ATL but would never watch it.

I'm honestly surprised it's 62% on rotten tomatoes.(Not racist or anything I had a black friend in 4th grade.)
The trailers looked bad.
Strong lead performances and catchy musical interludes rescue this coming-of-age story from its formulaic script and uneven direction.

I wish patrick wilson was still in Ant-Man.

LOL @ TI being in the movie. Dude is everywhere these days.

James Gunn Praises ANT-MAN, Calls the Film a Complete Blast

James-Gunn-Ant-Man-070115-Dragonlord.jpg

Director James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) wrote on Facebook: "Ant-Man may just be my favorite Marvel film since Jon Favreau's Iron Man (well, maybe excluding one film to which I'm partial). Honestly, the movie is a complete blast!

I was so happy after seeing it. It's never boring for a second and it's hilarious and warm throughout. It doesn't get caught up in the webbing of its own science-fiction concept like so many movies do these days, remaining simple and elegant. It's a part of the Marvel universe without being ruled by that fact.

Paul Rudd is nuanced and charming and funny and is a surprisingly natural fit as a modern superhero (side-fact - Paul must be a nice guy, because he and I dated the same girl in college, and yet I still love him). Michael Peña KILLS IT - this movie is going to make him a huge star. My old pal Judy Greer (she was Deadly Girl to my Minute Man in The Specials (film) many moons ago) is great in a small role. And Michael Douglas is awesome.

I think all of Peyton Reed's years directing have led him to making something as deft and nimble and joyous as this; he did an incredible job. And, despite Edgar Wright's parting from Marvel, his spirit is felt through the entire project, and there is no doubt everyone owes him a huge debt of gratitude. I left the theater incredibly happy. So often I see movies by people I love which are just okay - it's great to love a movie as much as I love the people who made it.

Congrats to the the whole Ant-Man team. Amazing work, guys! And, for the 99.99% of the people reading this who aren't part of the Ant-Man team, go check it out when it hits theaters (in a lot of places) July 17.

ANT-MAN Now Tracking For Up To $65 Million Opening Weekend

33yntis.jpg

Overcoming years of drama and defying naysayers, Marvel Studios and Disney's Ant-Man is tracking to open as high as $65 million at the North American box office in what would mark a big win for the world's tiniest superhero and star Paul Rudd.

Two weeks out, tracking services have the film debuting in the $55 million-$65 million range, but may believe it will come in on the high end, considering Marvel's track record. Last summer, Marvel's off-beat Guardians of the Galaxy surprised in debuting to $94.3 million domestically.

If prerelease surveys are right, Ant-Man is further proof of Marvel's ability to create a stable of diverse and quirky superheroes that don't all fit the conventional mold. In the case of Ant-Man, the movie is far more comedic that other superhero movies.

In terms of tracking, Ant-Man is showing the same strength that the first Captain America and Thor enjoyed, both of which debuted in the $65 million range for Marvel. Despite its PG-13 rating, Ant-Man is considered more family friendly than other superhero titles, so could overperform.

man i was pumped to see this then after seeing the trailer it looks sooooo cheesy

"pick on someone your own size."

yikes.

really wish we got Edgar Wrights treatment

Just saw a TV promo with Falcon in it.

The TV spots for this are way better than the trailer. I'm a bit more interested in this now.

Still not digging Paul Rudd though.

I figured out that it's precisely this point I started to lose faith in the MCU.

I was literally typing a response to this last night when I asked my girl to toss me my phone and it smoked my laptop screen and shattered it.

One of the best parts of getting the Hot Fuzz 3 disc special edition was you are privvy to footage of them documenting there creation of the characters and the movie's story itself. its very simple but very thorough and you can tell that Edgar and Simon really put everything they have into making fun movies. I can only hope we get some sort of reveal in a year or so (kind of like the original writer of Prometheus did) of Edgar Wrights treatment/script.

Who knows maybe his imprint is still there, but last I heard was Marvel wanted to go in a completely different direction....my guess is Edgar wanted this movie to stand on its own two legs without having Antman be second to a bunch of build up to Civil War.
