another shooting at ft hood.

Holy shit, dumbasses ITT.

NO it's not a good idea to allow everyone to roam around base with their rifles and ammo...that would be beyond fucking stupid. Only a complete idiot would think it's a good idea. To the 'tough guys' that posted earlier, you idiots are exactly the ones I wouldn't want to have ammo on base.

Semper Fi bitches :)

Such Originality

Much Intelligence

You come off as a meandering idiot most of the time and are a piss poor representation of a veteran. Your insecurities shine through, go get some counseling.

Indeed.

LOL, here's a sample:

What is so bad about the term assault rifle?

I think 99% people who use the term, consider it the same as the wiki definition

"An assault rifle is an automatic rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine. Assault rifles are the standard infantry weapons in most modern armies."

That second line is really what we are talking about, Weapons of Modern War. You do not need the same weapon as your frontline soldiers.

Is there another name which is better and easier to use?

I think most people use the term to describe anything that looks like "the standard infantry weapons in most modern armies".

Because most people feel that the citizenry should not have and do not need basically the same guns as the armed forces.

So HIMBOB called them "basically the same thing", how does that demonstrate that he knows the difference?

Classic HIMBOB modus operandi; make a half-assed, ill-informed statement about guns, get owned by people who actually know what they're talking about, deny ownage.

It doesn't have to be rifles. This guy who killed 4/injured dozens was stopped by a female MP with a Glock 22.

And... that's one of the dumbest posts I've read on Sherdog.

You should feel bad for posting that.

According to HIMBOB, the word "same" means "different". Almost as hilarious as TheQu's warning shot/kneecapping advocacy.

Unless there's a specific policy against it, under specific circumstances, in specific stations; cops remain armed while inside their stations. If simply being armed was such a bad thing, you'd think we would have heard about cops going batshit crazy on each other because of the "corrupting influence of guns". Why haven't we heard of one cop going postal inside a police station, then mass hysteria ensuing because everyone's armed, wearing blue and no one knows who to shoot, so everyone starts shooting at everyone else?

Not the same thing. At all.

With all the military personnel that come back from combat/deployments with mental issues, like the shooter yesterday, it just isn't a good idea to allow them to be armed on base. From my experience in the Marine Corps, I knew plenty of crazy motherfuckers that did not need to be around live ammo unless they were in combat. Every now and then there would be fights at the barracks or the e-club. If they were armed in those situations...shit, things would have been really fucked up. That's a fact.

I can see the blame game is in full effect with the usual suspects politicizing a tragedy while it's still underway.

Awesome.

You're right, shooter wasn't allowed to be armed, yet he was, so much for rules, huh?

Yeah, fuck it, you're right. Just let everyone have ammo and weapons when they're on base. What could go wrong?

Everyone else seemed to follow the "don't go killing your fellow soldiers for no fucking reason" rule. I'm sure most would if they carried their issued firearms as well. Maybe it's time to cut the umbilical cord, take off the kid gloves and remove the training wheels.

Good thing you're not in charge of the military.

There is a reason I stopped posting in this thread. It was turned into a political bs garbage thread. Rip the 4 dead innocents.

Every Soldier being armed doesn't even fucking make sense. What, they all carry their M4 around for 8 hours a day and then turn it in to the arms room at 1700? What, every Soldier carries, regardless of MOS, considering the vast majority are the "soft" MOSs, and considering then only your PMO MPs are trained for active shooter scenarios? I shudder to think of every clueless Joe rocking a rifle or 9mil in case some shit goes down. Gonna catch a cap in my ass by some fuckin crypto analyst who fires at the range twice a year if he's lucky. Fuck outta here.

Why has no one responded to the details of this post?
