Rakic will knock him out

Ank will never sniiff the TS again

It's funny how in the "similar threads" list right below when I enter this thread there are 2 more threads from TS where he downs Ankalaev while worshipping Poatan.

Possibly. Rakic has lost every big fight he's had though. He's lost to worse guys than Ankalaev, so I think it's quite unlikely.

What is more likely is that Ankalaev wins and the UFC don't give him a title shot anyway.

It's actually insane how long the UFC screwed with Jacare. He came over as the clearcut number two middleweight from Strikeforce and they made him compete 6 times without giving him a title shot. Compare that to Michael Chandler who came over in a similar position and got a title shot off of one win in a much deeper division. Dana White privilege at its finest. The UFC usually shafts Brazilians and makes them work extra hard, Pereira being the exception because of the built-in Izzy rivalry.

Remember when Jacare was feared by all

One of the best MW's seen, probably would have had a shot against any of the greats. Whittaker really hurt him as a fighter with that KO though.

Hopefully. Ankalaev is just an unlikeable character imo.

Jacare was actually a nice guy, but once he slowed down, he became a shadow of his prime. He did have some good wins in his run though.

And then Whittaker got KO'd by the young guy a couple years later. Whittaker at 33 now is still 4 years younger than Jacare was when they fought. I wish the UFC hadn't dicked around with an aging Jacare and had given him the Pereira treatment. Who knows what he could have done.

For what it's worth I thought he beat Romero clearly and got robbed. I don't remember the exact timelines, if Bisping or GSP still held the belt at that moment he would have beat their asses. But then again, He would eventually still run into RW's shin though.

I remember it was a super close fight, would have to watch again to form an opinion. But it was at least as close as Whittaker's fight with Romero. Jacare would definitely have smoked either Bisping or GSP. Romero would have too. Bisping's title reign screwed over the best middleweights in the world at the time. And as a result, Bisping is in the Hall of Fame while Jacare and Romero are not.

Jacare had a pretty long prime, he just didn't get into the UFC until the end of it and got screwed by the matchmaking. Most middleweights fall off before reaching their late 30s. I've come to realize that legacy depends heavily on the matchmaking for most fighters other than the phenoms like Silva, GSP, Jones, DJ, Aldo, who rise to the top no matter what.

Rakic is the LHW version of Cerrone sir.
