For gods sake you crumb bums, "gauge" is a unit if measurement. Someone can wear between 20 and 00 gauge plugs in their ears lobes, and then it starts going by fractions of an inch.

You don't go to the Guns'N'Ammo store and buy a box of gauges for your shotgun.

And also, people get piercings, tattoos, haircuts, hairstyles, for the same reason other people choose not to. For the same reason you all wear what you wear and not else: because it's what you find aesthetically pleasing.

The question isn't "why do people do these things" (answer:because they like how it looks). The question is, "why do people like how this haircut/shirt/tattoo/piercing makes them look?"

Why didn't you say the 2010s parents hated ear stretchers? Tonnes of people in this thread who aren't old have expressed their dislike of those "gauges". I mean making your ear lobes look bigger? Seems pretty ridiculous to me but if that's what you like hey whatever. Doesn't mean I or whoever else are ancient, I'm 24 for Christ's sake.

Still nobody's really answered all my questions. If we keep going further with this "body art" stuff, we will likely start seeing things like the gauged cheek and split tongue, as shown earlier in the thread. Do you honestly feel like that is still "expressing yourself"? Because to me that is self mutilation, and a pretty obvious sign of mental illness.
