I mean, in the middle of his prime (way older than the green GSP from that fight) Anderson Silva was losing to guys much worse than Mayhem Miller, who was an elite grappler in his prime.
Better to completely dominate them and break their nose than tapping out to them, right?






Such a shame Anderson ducked GSP after bragging to Dana White that he could make 170 easily. <DCrying> what could have been...

Considering we found out just a few years later Anderson Silva was dirty. What exactly would a victory over GSP have meant in terms of legacy in retrospect? Probably not much.

It didn't stop Bisping fighting hendo, Silva, vitro, among other juicers /gear /trt.

It's not an argument. There's was 0 proof back then. Dana simply says gsp didn't want it.

I swear the fans sounded similar at a gsp fight to when Kurt angle wrestles.

The exact same argument does now and has always applied to Anderson Silva and his refusal to fight Jones. He’s perfectly comfortable taking on somebody that is 4 inches shorter and 20 to 30 pounds lighter. But he wanted no piece of Jones whatsoever.

But in the GOAT Conversation both Jones and Silva have tainted reputations thanks to performance-enhancing drugs. GSP has no such issue. Thus his ranking.

(Plus, unlike... "others", GSP wasn't a Dana bootlicker, and White never forgave him for making his boy BJ quit on the stool, so anytime he could talk shit about him he would.)

I don't disagree BUT ducking Hendriks rematch fleeing the sport, fighting Bisping at mw t's but ducked Silva, getting ktfo by Sera a LW that's a foot shorter and tapping to strikes leaves rooms for others to leap frog him for goat status.

Anderson got mangled by Luiz Azeredo who's 2 feet shorter, tapped to a choke (you know that every Gracie in the crowd were like <{clintugh}> ) from a 2 feet shorter losing record Takase, and tapped like a bongo against FW Ryo Chonan when he was 30 years old.
And he never avenged any of those loses.


In comparison, getting clipped behind the ear by a nothing-to-lose Serra was a massive upset, but not that humiliating considering he put on a flawless performance in the rematch.

If you want to move up you call out the champ and move up.. Silva called out the champ down a weight class and when the topic of fighting Jones came up he said something like this

"We friend"

GSP has a few holes in the resume but he plugged those up in rematches. And again when his rep is untainted by outside and inside the cage controversies he enjoys the legacy that Jones and Silva do NOT..

He didn't ducked Silva, Gsp has no business in the middleweight division in the first place.
