If you think he was fed to the wolves then you need therapy. He had like many fights before a title shot and even his fight for the title was against someone who didn't even defend it, in an aging division. His first real competitor against someone in his prime and of his size was Gustaffson.

Lol. A 23 year old Jones (12-1 at that time), beat the 29 year old champion Shogun (19-4), to get the title. If one of them wasn’t in his prime, than it was Jones.

Rampage and Machida were 33 at the time and Rashad only 32. All in their primes and top contenders in that time. Jones would beat any version of them with same ease, he’s just on another level.

And they were all the same size, 205lb. It’s not like he was fighting featherweights. I can understand people who dismiss Jones, because of all the shit he’s done, but you’re delusional to think he isn’t one of best fighters that has ever stepped into the octagon

His first 6 fights in the UFC were André Gusmão, Stephan Bonnar, Jake O Brien, Hamill and Vera (already washed up by then) and old Matyushenko. Im not even sure if any of these guys were even ranked top 10 at the time. Thats hardly what i call being thrown to the wolves.
