If you know anything about the context of the sport back then, the prized division for fighters of Cruz/Edgar size was UFC LW, not WEC BW. That's just the way it was. And it's called prize fighting for a reason.
Beating BJ and Maynard for the UFC LW tittle was more of a feat - and more prized - than getting the BW tittle. More so when comparing two guys of the same size. It's not 1 title = 1 tittle like you want to present it. You need to understand context.
Edgar also beat Faber btw. He actually beat a better version of Faber, closer to his natural weight.

Which is fucking massive feat for a BW, 10x bigger feat than beating Scott Jorgensen even if going by your stats on paper argument, it could be the other way around.
Cruz, being the same size than Edgar, would have been a clear underdog against the same opponent.
If not for the injuries, Cruz could have still put toguether a superior career though. He was very talented. It wasnt the case, unfortunately.
