Khabib didn't fight enough top guys to be GOAT.

If you compare his resume to someone like Jones it just doesn't measure up.

Khabib fought who was available at that time. For me he could come back today and could beat anyone of the lightweights imo, including Islam.
 
Jones vs. Gane is a huge fight, if Jones wins he’s pretty much the undisputed GOAT, his undefeated resume beating so many great legends and number of title defences is unparalleled, he’s also officially cleared of prior USADA infractions as per new rules. Huge fight, GOAT status on the line.

I'm tempted to say Khabib now.

But if Jones wins tomorrow, I'd probably switch back to him.

How so?

He beat Conor who, say what you want about him, would be in the GOAT discussion if he had beat Khabib.

Then he stuck around to beat Dustin and Gaethje, the two guys who were the best of the next crop of top lightweights.

Then Islam, his protege, absolutely murked Olives.

I get it, he didn't have a long run on top. But what he has going for him is no controversy surrounding ANY of his wins. He absolutely kicked the ass of everyone he ever fought.

He is better than GSP but he had the most haters, he would never beat George in this forum ;)

It's three title defences Vs eleven title defences and now Jones challenging himself at a new weight class.

I agree Khabibs the best lightweight we've seen but he didn't stick around long enough to have the same legacy as GSP, Jones or Anderson.

But yea, Jones has a great chance to cement himself as the GOAT of all GOATs in MMA, at least if you can look past his cheating.

When will people understand that there is no GOAT. GSP would lose to Fedor, Anderson (maybe), and Jones. That AUTOMATICALLY makes him not the GOAT but if it is some lala land, fairy tale p4p nonsense where GSP was clean while manhandling 200 pound Alves on all the juice then we can be fantasists together.

There is no GOAT. The best fighters ever is an unresolvable debate between Jon Jones and Fedor Emelianenko.

He was always the PED GOAT, His recod far exceeds anyone else.

If you don't count PED cheats amongst the GOATs, nothing happening today will change your mind
 
"Goes down as"? There is no official GOAT title. It will always come down to opinion.
