All Time GOAT poll

Respect to GSP for what he's done, but muy pick remains the same than a couple of years ago.

Fedor.

He almost never fought with a size disadvantage. He basically had a size advantage in most of his LHW fights including the two against his biggest rival who made him cry twice. He outweighed all those opponents.

Would the 191lb BJ Penn who fought Machida have a size advantage over someone like Wonderboy who comes into the cage at 185?

GOATs come from the HW division, where guys don't have a pre-fight metagame contest by cutting enough weight to nearly die. They just go and fight.

Fedor.

If BJ Penn went up and choked out perennial gatekeeper Matt Serra when Serra was champion and the #1 WW, it would not be considered an incredibly impressive victory... Michael Bisping was a perennial MW gatekeeper who also happened to be champion for a brief time period... It was not an incredibly impressive victory.

Michael bisping was a much better fighter than Matt serra. Come on bro. Serra only has a few good wins. Bisping has a ton of ranked wins.

Bisping's last win streak before getting finished by 4 year lay off version of GSP:

Dolloway, ranked 11th when Bisping beat him
Leites, ranked 10th when Bisping beat him
Silva, ranked 5th when Bisping beat him
Rockhold, champion when Bisping starched him
Henderson, ranked 15th when Bisping beat him

Then GSP choked bisping out.

Yes, it's just that his size advantage wouldn't be very functional.

Almost like it isn't an "advantage" at all. A much smaller frame carrying a ton of fat is not an "advantage" over a much bigger and leaner frame. Roy Nelson weighed more against Cro Cop recently than Ngannou did against Cain, it's pretty comical to declare that he would have a size advantage in that hypothetical matchup, because Ngannou's frame is far bigger. I'm sure it would be physically possible for Cejudo to bloat up to a cartoonish 280lbs, that wouldn't give him an "advantage" of any sort over heavyweights.

Is he? Bisping has defeated one top 5 opponent his entire career. Luke Rockhold.
Even if he's marginally better, that isn't enough to warrant a conversation about it in my eyes.

Anderson was ranked 5th when Bisping beat him, and I'm not sure why you came up with the arbitrary caveat of "top 5" wins. Bisping is not marginally better— he's statistically had a much more successful career than serra.

I don't know. Some guys use their extra weight better than others. DC uses his weight extremely well, mostly because of his grinding style which involves putting his weight on his opponents. It depends on he fighter. Penn doesn't have a style that would really benefit from an extra 25lbs of fat. DC does.

I think GSP is partly because of how grueling his resume was. I understand why people pick Fedor Jones or Anderson though

This is some of the most delusional shit I've ever seen to be honest

Show me what they both weighed on fight night and we can talk about that. Otherwise stfu

I should shut the fuck up for making a logical assumption? Not sure what you've been smoking but that's no way to have any kind of sane discussion.

No? How could you possibly have gotten that from what I wrote?

There's weight classes for a reason. If he outweighs his opponents he's obviously a bigger size.

You used the word "advantage", earlier, which you're now avoiding somehow.

You're conflating "advantage" with purely outweighing an opponent, which is what I was trying to highlight by saying that if BJ Penn fought someone with a much bigger frame like Wonderboy, he would not be in any way possessing a "size advantage" by managing to weigh more through sheer fat. DC was able to compete at 184 in college, he is a totally undisciplined eater.
Say DC were to fight Ngannou and weighed in at 260 while Ngannou weighed the 258 or so he weighed vs Cain. Who in that bout would have a "size advantage"? DC would be heavier, yes, but is that all that constitutes a "size advantage" for you?
