Crime All charges dropped against Jussie Smollett

It honestly wouldn't surprise if this was dropped because the whole thing was never Smollet's idea to begin with and going ahead with the prosecution would potentially incriminate other, more powerful people.

Like Kamala Harris , who looked rattled when a reporter caught her off guard with a question about it.
Harris is Obama's choice for the democrat president race. He faked this attack to boost Harris and his own career.

I know someone who has been put in the hospital twice by his GF, and put a whuppin on her at least once, smashed up their shared house, kicked her ass in front of her kids (and seriously, try to tell me they didn’t get involved) they got 2 days in jail and told to cool their jets and not get into trouble again.

Why do we have rules/laws when people are never punished for breaking them?

Many on here called the ending of this case as well. When have we ever seen a celebrity go down for something, aside from Wesley Snipes?
That must be an inner city. The 100k a year "give women the advantage, and they in turn let us sexually harass them a little bit making us feel like big men" suburban cop brigade around here has given out DVs for dirty looks, and fathers taking away their daughters phone. Overall I'm pro law enforcement, but these guys push it.

TBH, it risks a lot for the Chicago Democrats to be this transparent with their corruption. Normally I would expect at least a small effort to show that maybe they are seeking justice.

Were they afraid that if confronted with the potential of actual jail time, Jussie might say something that is even more damaging to them than this display of blatant outright corruption?

I've had 2 hours sleep in the last 54 hours, and just as I lay down to check twitter and fall asleep THIS FUCKING SHIT DROPS.

Holy fucking shit.

Wow.

I gotta relax and fall asleep.

Later ya'll.
Then the story is working as intended.

Not sure why you guys think im bullshitting you.

As a long term attorney, I’ll say that most conceptions people have about the law tend to be wrong, but in two points they are absolutely right: having money is 90% of a successful defense, and possession is 90% of the law.

Can’t overstate how important it is to be the side holding the money.

And power. Make sure your speed dial includes a few politicians. Jussie Smollett is a free man, while Martin Shkreli went to jail.

Wait, I thought exonerations were exonerations?

{<jordan}
Is dismissal of charges really exoneration? If it's dismissal with prejudice it means the state can't refile so I guess it SORTA is... if it's without prejudice it's basically the state going "we can't prove it... yet"

At least in WA that's how it works.

His punishment should be to like&subscribe to Pewdiepie.

But srsly those two accomplices he knew from the show, on camera buying hoods and shit, owning up to the crime later, really puts a wrench in the leftists narrative that he didn't fake it. So they scramble to find "good reasons" they let him off the hook. Records sealed as well, nothing will be ever known or released.

Yeah... those brothers are especially fucked because of this. They don't have the privilege of having friends in high places.

Then who did it?

That's just it. They're not even saying he didn't do it. They're saying he's suffered enough and has already completed community service, and they're keeping his bond money.

LOL, this shit is so blatantly corrupt.

At the end of the day, this worked better than Jussie's original plan and has trolled his way to widen the political and racial divide.

So let me get this straight, Kim Foxx who originally didn't want to get involved in this case because she was friends with Jussie Smollet and turned over the case to someone else, now comes back at the end and gets all of the charges dropped?

This is such a pathetic comparison.

Maybe if Trump had been caught with a check stub that said in the memo "To my pal putin to help me win the election" it would be similar.

Im bringing up the fake outrage. Answer this question how would you punish Jussie?

I would have liked to see a plea deal, a fine and apology from Smullet himself expressing remorse for a stupid decision.

Jail time was too much. But now we get to see this garbage about he was actually telling the truth and the PD were just after him because he was gay/black, etc, etc..

Seems incredible Kim Foxx would suddenly do this all on her own. Did Kamala Harris really put him up to it to pass her anti-lynching bill and his lawyers threatened her?

Yes. She un-recused herself to order the prosecution of her friend ended.

This is what we call ‘Chicago culture.’

It would be equivalent to Jeff Sessions un-recusing himself and ordering Mueller to end his investigation. In Chicago, such practices are considered normal and acceptable.

He did it. He's just "done so much for his community" that its OK.

How can this be?

I'm not feigning ignorance here, folks. This simply can't be true. He did it? That's a crime then. Why would they drop the charges?

She recused herself, then magically finds the case in her hands again, magically. And decides to drop it.

I never seen a case go to a grand jury then gets ghost-dropped immediately by the prosecutor.

How does a woman that recused herself from the case, step back in and abolish all charges!

I don't think jail time is really too much when you consider the potential fallout had his hoax not been uncovered.
