You understand that they are not saying Jussie Smollett didn't perpetuate this hoax? That they are claiming that him doing community service at some point makes his prosecution unnecessary. Their argument is that crazy. The Nigerians brothers are still acknowledged as his attackers. It's a travesty of justice.

When cases like this fall apart, it usually means they find out a key witness lied about something. The key witnesses here were those Nigerian guys.

We already know about them buying the ropes and masks, and that they were in the vicinity of the fake attack. Cops tracked them on video from the scene back to their apartment. There was a ton of evidence so I hear. Jussie is pretty clearly guilty if those reports are true. So what could be wrong with the Nigerians’ testimony? And if nothing’s wrong, why drop the case?

Maybe Jussie paid them enough to recant their testimony.

I guess it's just how brazen it all is, considering the media attention that it's going to get. You'd think they'd just bite the bullet on this one, or at the very least, come up with a better explanation as to why they're dropping the charges. It's the reasoning behind it that is gonna draw so much attention to it. Just say there isn't enough evidence to move forward, and that's that. This whole community service and keeping his bond as a form of punishment, for a crime you're dropping charges on, makes zero sense to everyone and is gonna draw immense scrutiny. They just put a magnifying glass on themselves.
