Man, Timothy Olyplhant's character is really feeling like David from Prometheus, and I'm pretty sure he's got his own agenda. It felt like the Aliens universe immediately. Like many others, I'm getting a little tired of the female-protagonist lead in this franchise, but Alien: Romulus and AE are as big of a turnaround as Prey and Predator:KoK was for that franchise.

Liking it a lot. I want to see a lot of death.

Well, so far they’re doing a good job laying the groundwork for why the Xenomorphs are not common knowledge on Earth further down the timeline.

I mean, is there anyone here who thinks that island is coming out of this series without getting nuked from orbit with extreme prejudice? Anyone?

It is the only way to be sure.

I kinda hope they count on us thinking that and do something different, more interesting.

The lackadaisical security is wild to me from a viewer perspective but then I think about the fact that in universe they don't understand the threat level (though you'd think they would still be very cautious given that it's alien life) but then again in real life we've accidentally dropped nuclear weapons and I'm sure there's been labs with dangerous stuff in them and poor security measures.

3 episodes in & dig it.
Bleached/Bishop Olyphant is solid as expected.
Wendy is cool.
Edit;
Amelie was predecessor to Ripley I guess.

Why does it sometimes feel like the people in the Alien universe are some of the dumbest humans ever depicted on movies and TV.
I'm guessing I know the scene(s) you're referring to. As dumb as certain things strike me I've seen the occasional behavior out of people in real life that made the dumb decisions in horror shows and movies seem much more plausible lol.

I get what you're saying but this is the future with much more developed tech + synths who wouldn't make human mistakes. People make mistakes which is why we have protocols. We have better safety protocols than in the past and you can even make current comparisons between safety protocols in developed countries vs third world countries. You'd think people 100 years in the future with better tech and self aware AI robots would have better ways of doing things. It would've been more interesting and made the threat of the Xenos greater if they found a way to break out in spite of air tight safety protocols. Not to mention the show already showed tech that can subdue a xeno (the cyborg taser gun), yet the cyborg guy just didn't think about it until after the ship crashed.

I'm enjoying the show but if you think about it too much it doesn't make a lot of sense. The whole ship crashing into bangkok is stupid. If a ship crashed now, we'd have warnings and evacuations in advance. A giant ship 100 years in the future and it lands in the middle of Bangkok with no warning whatsoever? No detection system for something like that entering the atmosphere? They should've been warned by it clipping the space station next to the moon at least. And a ship like that crashing would be like a mini nuclear explosion. Two commercial airliners did more damage lol.

In the first alien, characters acted realistically within the logic of the universe. They didn't just deux ex machinaed their way out or make retarded decisions.

I agree, I was merely saying that I've seen real dumb behavior out of people in real situations personally. Like, horror movie stupid. I also know people who've worked in dangerous environments around well educated people who noted equipment breakdowns and incompetence.

I can believe incompetence around dangerous materials and though it does seem TOO insecure on the show we do have some very, VERY dumb CEOs in real life. Look at OceanGate sub guy - he was told a thousand ways a thousand different times that his sub wasn't structurally sound, he even listened to the hull crack then took it back out again, it's actually baffling how many horrible, dumb, decisions he made, it defies all reason and logic. Picture him or Elon with some alien organisms. Not exactly bright individuals and corporations are notorious for cutting corners. Alien is as much about corporate greed as it is about dangerous creatures.

The ship crashing is probably the most unbelievable part to me so far. There'd be a thousand warnings and I would imagine planetary safety protocols. Also, I wanna know how they slowed it down because it had to be coming in at tens, maybe even hundreds of thousands of KPH and at those speeds with that mass and whatever was fueling it it would wipe out a massive area, it would probably have worldwide implications if it was moving full speed. It'd be worse than multiple tsar bombas. It wouldn't be hard to write/show what happened, unless they're expecting us to fill in the blanks and assume the ship slowed itself upon a collision warning.

One of the part that's bothered me considerably was them jumping in the stairwell. It was unnecessarily risky, it's hard for me to picture a rescue team doing something so reckless and if they wanted them to do that it'd be easy to write a reason why, like the stairwell collapsing.

That said, I'm still enjoying it so far but the writing is hit and miss for sure.

I thought the CEO guy getting close to the egg was stupid but that wasn't too bad. An uber genius with a massive ego probably thinks he's untouchable. Protocols wouldn't matter to him. I see him getting his come upance by one of the creatures at some point.

It's still good but 3 was understandably slower. I didn't expect them to switch up the setting this quickly. I am guessing we are crossing over from an Alien 1 theme into an Alien 2 theme with a mass outbreak.

So many series that can be made from Alien lore.

Would LOVE a real prequel just focuses on the Engineers race - back before the black goo/xenos wiped most out. Dont even need the Xenomorph involved till the very end of that series . So much can be done with that.

So far this show for me is just like Shogun, GoT 1-6, Andor .......... great great TV.

Hate its a Hulu show as I cant stand that app but they could make 15 hit series just based off this lore I hope they continue.

Spot on, totally agree.

It is weird it's set before the first Alien.

The eyeball thing isn't a xenomoprh but a different creature I'm guessing. Just like those blood sucking worm things. Seems like there were a few other creatures in the tanks.
Assuming there was black goo on the ship that morphed shit when it crashed .

3rd episode still solid, but pushed into some close to eye rolling moments. Cat-Boy is still spending his 9 lives with Xeno encounters.

I dont have much problem with Wendy taking out a Xeno, but she should have been far more damaged. Like, milk guts starting to spill out. Cat-Boy should have opened the door and just seen her from side view and she looks normal, then turns her head and the other side of her face is a white mess.

But I suppose they dont want to it seem like any damage can just be magically repaired in a chamber.

Overall im gonna allow it just because the moment it grabbed her when the door shut made me "Ohhhhh, fuck!". Sometimes I can allow a couple quibbles for an awesome moment.

Really stoked for what seems like a science-y inspection episode next week. Grabbing the sperm xeno before it went out the crab-penis was a really cool idea. Every episode leaves me looking forward to the next, regardless of what complaints I may have. Overall this show is shaping up well.

Was pumped for this, but having browsed this thread it doesn't seem to be hitting the mark as expected.

We had the alligator guy for years

Yeah, that was the most surprising thing for me, too. I was expecting we'd spend the first half (if not the entire) season in the wreckage.
