Media Ali Abdelaziz: NO Man 155-185 Beats Islam - Islam FINISHES Alex at 205

With a revolver, he’d have six shots.
Were talking about a fight. Anything can happen. We're talking someone of is arguably the best grappling specialist against someone with very little grappling experience. I sure as shit wouldn't bet on it, but it wouldn't "shock" me if Islam took him down and submitted him.

He said the same crap about Usman, just blowing smoke up his fighters bumbum. The fighters themselves might believe it but they aren’t usually the ones saying these things, thats the job of their hype men.

The fighters don't believe it. Do you think Islam Makhachev think he could beat Jan Blackowski, Hill, Jiri Prochazka twice, while handling Adesanya, beforehand, his first defeat in years in Izzy's middleweight peak? Like, fighters aren't blinded to reason.

Depends on the fighter, maybe not Islam but depending on the fighter some of them will delude themselves of these things just like anyone can delude themselves into thinking a lie is a fact if they tell it to themselves enough.

Which fighter? I don't think Connor, even though he boasted a lot, a played the delusion card because it stuck, wouldn't even say he could go to LHW and beat Jon Jones, because he knows there is a difference between making himself appear better by saying he could run through welterweight if he wanted from mentioning a fight vs JJ, which would give the "trying too hard" impression imo

Like, saying something that seems unlikely but like, hey, who knows... can be done, because fighters many times know they are more likely to lose and thus try to get this confidence by reaffirmation... But that needs to be something within the realms of possibility, like a tough guy from his division, or going up a division to face the best fighter in the roster. But they know it's not worth to build confidence in something they know there's no chance...

I’m not really talking about guys going up to LHW, I’m speaking generally about fighters who think they can go up one or two divisions and beat the current champ. In Islam’s case a lightweight moving up to LHW is so outlandish i kinda just disregarded that part and was more referring to him at WW and MW.

If Islam bulked up, would you favor him vs Alex or anyone at 185/205?

Dear Ali:

I watched Islam vs Volk 1 (a FW gave him a very close fight)
I watched Islam vs Dustin (competitive fight....props to Islam for stopping Dustin in the 5th round)

DDP is a huge MW. Not only would DDP beat Islam but I don't think it would be competitive. I think Strickland beats Islam and I think Shavkat beats him too. Alex would KO Islam before the end of the second round. These are just a few guys off the top of my head.

I wish guys like him would stop saying things like this. The only people who would believe outrageous BS such as that are ones who know literally nothing about the sport.
Which is half the other threads that have been posted on this, where people believe Islam would smoke Poatan in under 30 seconds lol.
Something happened here that seems to have wiped the concept of weightclasses from half of peoples memories

"StYlEs MaKe FiGhTs" not when you're a 6'4" 235lb slab of granite being challenged by a 5'9" lightweight who walks around at MW at best. Anyone who believes a LW can jump up to LHW and dominate the current champion should be permanently ignored.

A fighter from Team Eagle has never moved up a single weightclass. Last week Ali was yapping how Islam smokes DDP (he doesn't) and today it's Poatan.

Next week Ali will be telling you that Jon Jones vs Islam would be a really close fight.

Abdelaziz is making his fighters less likeable

anyway, Islam great in his division and I really like the idea of Islam challenging the other weight classes

I’m think Islam would struggle to finish a guy like Buckley at 170 tbh, he’d just be too too small.
Let alone a MW or LHW.
