Alexander Volkov is massively underrated

Not sure what to explain. You probably haven't seen Gane fights if you believe he is "barely skilled" and "just a big guy who slugs".
And if you have, it's hopeless, and I doubt your boxercise gym buddies will be of any help.
Wut... please quote where I say he is barely skilled and just a slugger please ? You probably mix me up with your evil twin?

Actually my bad, you were talking about the guy he faced, I read it too fast.

Still, you don't need to put him against top opponents to see his skills. He moves better than Volkov, his striking defense is much better, he use a wider variety of strikes and do it intelligently.
I am certain it will be obvious after he fights JDS.

No worries. I am sure he beats JDS, JDS is chinny and past his prime for years. I think Gane is exciting, but I just feel there is a gap between him and Volkov at this point. We will see

JDS demolished Lewis no too long ago and had a nice streak, then he faced some really hardcore competition, but I rank him similar to Volkov and Overeem.
Yeah we will see.

He will most definitely finish Overeem next and then it’s Ngannou or Blaydes who are his toughest challenges for the strap
you mean.. before the strap right? cuz this guy aint beating stipe lol

Dude it was a fluke loss just like Overeem to Rosenstruik

Overeem's loss to Rozenstruik wasn't a fluke. Overeem loses to Rozenstruik again. And to a handful of other guys as well.

Volkov is good but he loses to explosive athletic American wrestlers.

He’s much more likely to “win two lose one” and stay in the top 10 but without a title shot than he is to win the belt IMO

Having a relative lack of KO power and a relative lack of wrestling is difficult to consistently overcome at the very top

JDS is on a rough decline. He has the skills, but his speed and mostly, his chin is gone. Volkov

The problem are not JDS his skills. Skillwise, he defenitely is on par with Drago. The problem is he has 3 (t)ko losses in a row and 5 in 5 years. Volkov rarely get's knocked out. For a HW, a good chin is essential. Every HW can knock the other guy out, but only a few can eat a shot and keep on fighting. JDS get's KO'd in R1, Im pretty confident in that

His chin is perfect for a Francis Ngumbo ko finish hl

Stipe is a more favorable matchup for Volkov than Ngannou or Blaydes IMO

Why, because they can only threaten with one thing and stipe can beat him everywhere?

Most ppl here don’t even watch fights, they just go on n wiki and check the results

volkovs toughest matchup in the division is blaydes and he was doing better as the fight progressed.

Now we’ve seen stipe get ko by struve and we’ve yet to see ngannou face a size disadvantage in a fight. Vs Lewis he froze and landed like 10 strikes, so a more technical striker like volkov might be a tough matchup for him.

So if he avoids blaydes he could win the title

If you actuly watch fights it only makes this even worse bozo

mike perry would be one of the most complete fighters in 2010.

:eek::eek::eek:

I dont get why Walt Harris even gets the chance to fight Volkov at this point.

If he tightens up his defense he could work his way to a TS. Miocic outclasses him imo

The gates to a TS go through Blaydes or Ngannou, there is no way around.
He lost to Blaydes and would certainly lose again. Ngannou is his worst matchup, you can't be so easily hittable against him, he wouldn't last 2min.

There is obviously a way around as every time there has been a dominant champion or do you expect UFC to have the champ defending against the same couple of dudes forever?

Eventually somebody else will get it - or actualy Nganou/Blaydes will be the tittle holder in the near future - and Volkov is in a good position to get the TS.

Btw as a matter of fact nobody gave Blaydes a tougher fight than Volkov apart from Francis.
So why do you say "certainly" if the fight was "certainly" competitive and actually had Blaydes in trouble?

You gotta admit he’s got the championship potential.

His only two losses in the UFC were a fluke loss at the last seconds to Black Beast and the loss to Blaydes where Volkov survived the wrestle fuck rather easily and was seconds away from finishing Curtis who was dead exhausted after the fight.

In his last fight Drago noticeably gained muscle mass and weighed in at the max 265 lbs, he was going forward and trying to land hard rather than out pointing Harris.

He will most definitely finish Overeem next and then it’s Ngannou or Blaydes who are his toughest challenges for the strap

He's underrated but Blaydes is improving as well so im not just going to assume he would pass that hurdle next time. He's a pretty damn good fighter although he often doesn't look great.

Hmmm. Russian flag in your avatar. Wearing pink glasses? ;)

He should be capable of beating Reem at this point. But not champion material. But who knows? It's the heavyweights.
