Alexander Volkov is massively underrated

He's very good from range and when engaging in the clinch, but lacks TDD/ability to get back up and isn't good in a brawl. He could be a tough fight for Big Frank because of the distance kickboxing if he survives let's say 3 minutes (as Ngannou would've landed in a striking battle by then). But that goes for a lot of HW's.

But the top of HW for the near future doesn't favor him. Could stop Reem like a lot of guys have done. But then it's Stipe and Blaydes with the wrestling and Ngannou with the power punching. Bad match-ups for his style.

Also, IDK why Walt Harris is getting these big fights. He's never really shown to be main event caliber. And is older.

You gotta admit he’s got the championship potential.

His only two losses in the UFC were a fluke loss at the last seconds to Black Beast and the loss to Blaydes where Volkov survived the wrestle fuck rather easily and was seconds away from finishing Curtis who was dead exhausted after the fight.

In his last fight Drago noticeably gained muscle mass and weighed in at the max 265 lbs, he was going forward and trying to land hard rather than out pointing Harris.

He will most definitely finish Overeem next and then it’s Ngannou or Blaydes who are his toughest challenges for the strap

If he beat overeem then i say he has a chance at the title...but thats a BiG Ubereem size IF imo..

This is the fight that will show if hes champion material or not

no

I question his cage IQ and his chin.

Volkov looked great in his last fight, he put on some muscle mass and his striking and aggression was more powerful. He went right through Harris.

His lack of effective takedown defense is a liability that will likely prevent him from getting UFC gold. It has plagued him throughout his career. He has always shown good stamina, but he has trouble keeping fights upright.

He has shit tdd and his striking is way overrated...never champ material

He is good he may get a TS in the future but i dont think he will win it

He'll lose to a tony johnson level wrestler though, that's always been the problem

He ain't getting that title. With Ngannou, Blaydes, Stipe around and someone like Gane on the come up.. Can't see Volkov getting past ranked #3.
Gane? Volkov is a really good HW and defenitely better than all the current upcoming talents. If he beats Overeem he can defenitely compete for a title next year.

Losses to good competition don't prove shit. Remember Lando Vannata and Tony Ferguson?
Ferguson smoked Lando after the first round. Hardy vs Volkov was competitive the entire fight.

You're clearly biased. His loss to Black Beast was no fluke. He was winning until he lost. If he had good cardio and footwork then he wouldn't have been knocked out. There are rarely fluke victories in MMA. Accidental injuries are the most common fluke wins. Getting punched in the face because you couldn't avoid the strike is not a fluke, it's shit defense.
