Alexander Volkov is massively underrated

I just don't think he has the kind of power to threaten for the title. Think Big Frank knocks his block off.

I also look like a champ against incompetent opposition. I always find it fascinating people don't understand that those unranked HW's are BARELY SKILLED. They are just big guys who slug. Athletic guys with a bit of talent look insane, but it says nothing. I am positive Volkov picks him apart 8 out of 10 times

Blaydes is probably the greatest wrestler today in the HW division, barely could hold Volkov down to stole the win, did zero damage and almost got a heart attack.
 
Most ppl here don’t even watch fights, they just go on n wiki and check the results

volkovs toughest matchup in the division is blaydes and he was doing better as the fight progressed.

Now we’ve seen stipe get ko by struve and we’ve yet to see ngannou face a size disadvantage in a fight. Vs Lewis he froze and landed like 10 strikes, so a more technical striker like volkov might be a tough matchup for him.

So if he avoids blaydes he could win the title
 
He's aight, not even the best kickboxer at HW. He'll always be the tall guy that's better than Struve. Nice snap kick to the liver, can't take that from him.

Hey, people still use the Struve loss as an argument for why Volkov could win against Stipe (see: post #64) and that was 2012. They say those who forget history are doomed to repeat it, but they don't repeat it as much as Sherdoggers do.
 
That Black Beast loss sat bad with me, did not feel like he deserved to lose at all, but he slipped up and that's what happens.

I think Volkov is actually a tough matchup for Stipe. Stipe looked lost against Struve and go knocked out. Volkov is a better striker than Struve and also towers over Stipe. Fighting against opponents with a huge height advantage is incredibly difficult and we haven’t seen if Stipe has found an effective way to do it since that loss. It’s a fight I’d like to see.

Volkov likely wont ever get that shot though. Stipe doesnt have much left and has tough fights in Ngannou and Blaydes ahead of him. Volkov would likely have to beat either of those guys to get a shot.

The first 30sec of Ngannou-Volkov would look like the last 30sec of Volkov-Lewis.
Same for Stipe, maybe takes a bit longer.

Volkov nuthuggers are a special breed... Yes he was good on his back and showed good cardio. But he showed the most atrocious TD defense ever seen and never did anything significant offensively. Now he has beaten over the hill Walt Harris, and suddenly he's the next great white russian hope, the new 6'7" full-hairline-no-beer-belly Fedor.

Who showed good takedown defense against Blaydes besides Ngannou who didn’t have to ?

Ngannou spend 2 full rounds with Blaydes, only got taken down twice, got back on his feet immediately and took exactly 0 strikes on the ground.
In their 2 fights, Blaydes has landed 2 of 8 TD attempts.
Against Volkov, he landed 14 of 25 TD attempts. 8 TD out of 10 in the first 2 rounds.

Not sure what to explain. You probably haven't seen Gane fights if you believe he is "barely skilled" and "just a big guy who slugs".
And if you have, it's hopeless, and I doubt your boxercise gym buddies will be of any help.
