Alexander Gustafsson 300KG Deadlift?

Anyone who believes this guy can deadlift 650 pounds + is some fat nerd who never stepped a foot inside a gym... Really.
You guys are acting as if being 6'4 helps in terms of strength.. I don't even know what to say.

If he really did.. Then He HAS to be on some special supplements..

I weighed 180 as a senior and dead lifted 390 for a power lifting competition, I had never dead lifted in my life till about 1.5 months before the competition. 650 doesn't seem unreasonable for a professional fighter that is a big man and works out all the time for his job.

No. Taller athletes deadlift more relative to their other lifts. The taller you are, generally, the longer your limbs are in proportion to your torso so you are at a mechanical advantage. Ed Coan is the only person I can think of to pull over 900 who is under 6 feet tall.

Bennie is about 6'-1", Big Z is 6'-3", KK is 6'-3", Shaw and Thor are over 6'-7".

This guy knows what he's talking about.

A person like myself with short limbs and a long torso is better at squatting than dead lifting cause you don't have to squat far. Gus' physique is bad for squatting but good for dead lifting because his arms are long and his torso is relatively short so it puts less strain on his lower back and he doesn't have to bend over as much.

So I guess I should stop using my height as an excuse for a poor deadlift.

Short guys still squat more?

Short guys will generally squat more, especially if they have a long torso/short limbs ratio because they don't have to squat down as far.

Yup. This all gross generalizations, and I find it pretty fucking hard to believe he can pull 300kg, but he has the build of a natural puller. The 230kg stated elsewhere in here sounds realistic to me, but is still impressive for a guy who isn't dedicating his training to barbell strength.

Thor is actually 6'.9"

Why on earth did my post get deleted??

I simply pointed out that "nearly 300kg" =/= 300kg.

The worst part of these threads are the " I weigh ___ much and can lift ___ much"

No video, no credibility. That's what power lifters pull.

Muffintop isnt pulling that much, rest assured.

Skinnyfat Gus wishes he could pull that much.

I thought we'd atleast have a video or proof of some sort. I'm not buying it.

Not bad. I can only do 315 but I weigh 130 so that's impressive that Alex can do 661 pounds...

Trolling or blatant liar. If youre 130lbs and deadlift 315 you should put a vid on BB forums or at least YouTube. But you won't because you're lying on the Internet to be cool.

If you're a 4'10 manlet juiced to the gills u might belive you. 130lbs is so tiny, do you even really lift??

you realize he's talking lbs? 315lbs at a bw of 130 isn't slightly impressive. Can be acquired by 90% of male lifters in under six months training. No offense. Lighter lifters tend to have higher bw/lift stats.

Tom Martin is 5'10" and is roughly the same weight as Alexander Gustaffson. He is also one of the most talented strength athletes in the world and has been only doing lifting probably since before Alex had even heard of MMA.

I'm calling absolute bullshit on these claims.

Martin weighed in at 183lbs when he made that lift, which is quite a bit lighter than Alexander.
