Not true, he did the same thing in Glory Kickboxing — defended both the MW and LHW belts.

Let me rephrase it then: Alex knows UFC will never let him drop back down to fight for the MW belt as long as he has the LHW one.

That would be actually hilarious. Alex could try to set a double belt defence record.

His glass jaw would be even worse cutting back down to 185 after being at 205 for his past two fights.

I think they actually might.

Alex could drop down to MW, KO Duplessis without breaking a sweat (as he did with Strickland), then eat some hamburgers and fight Ankalaev two months later.

Alex is a true pro at weight cutting, he's always in shape, and he is willing to face anyone.

I don't think Pereira is a risk to fight once or twice a year; he's consistently ready to throw down in a couple of months, so I think he could fight 4x a year, and defend both titles twice/year.

If Pereira beat Du Plessis, then I'll bet he would call out Robert Whittaker or Adesanya, and then go back to LHW for good.

he should stay at a weight class. going up and down a lot isn't good.

It isn't good for the divisions, and it' also wouldn't be good for his performances I think, especially at his age. I don't think his physical strength, cardio, and chin will be there at MW anymore -- that cut is huge and Alex is going to be 37 this summer. LHW is the best division for him I think, and he's got a good shot of getting some legit defenses there. No need to risk it at MW.

What would be the point of this? Why would the UFC want this if he's just going to immediately vacate and go back to 205?

I'd watch because it would be a good fight but it makes zero sense in the grand scheme of things

Dude likes to tease, hut he also likes to fight guys who are mainly strikers and to avoid grapplers. There are DDP, Ank and Aspinall he could face, but I wouldn't be surprised if he waited for Hill to come back.

That’s a bad fight for Pereira.
An emaciated Poatan would get taken down and beat up by Dricus Afrikanus

and again we see people want undeserved fights.
DDP is asking Adesanya to fight him . Adesanya lost his last fight , he needs to earn his shot first.
and now Alex is looking again for a title fight where he doesnt belong.
Khamzat is wating for DDP and Ankalaev for Alex, no need to look other directions

So he wants to go back down and win the belt only to vacate it straight away?

funny how only muscled up Brazilans get a pass for this type of shit on Sherdog. lol

Too much of a cut Driscus KO's him at MW anyway at LHW? that's a different discussion.

Pereira would mop the floor with DDP if they keep it standing. I think Alex can defend the takedowns.

There’s levels to this Alex caught Sean with 1 shot and Ko’d him.DDP arguably lost in a war with Sean. Yes there different fighters buy Alex is levels above.

DDP would get exhausted going for takedowns.

Totally different levels in the stand up.
DDP gets caught in between a haymaker.
I think Alex has the power to catch DDP on the way in.

Sean was outboxing DDP, Alex would pick him apart.

But I don’t think Alex should go back down to Middleweight. He should stay at Light Heavyweight where he doesn’t have the massive weight cuts.

DDP should rematch Sean or fight Adesanya.

Maybe Chimaev in the mix.

Yeah Poatan fought Artem Vakhitov in GLORY at LHW in September 2021 looking huge, and two months later he made his UFC-debut at MW, that shit was crazy impressive

Alex is a consummate professional, especially compared to weight-missing chumps, like Costa and Chimaev.
