I wonder if the close fight that he had with Rountree was actually a clear indication that Poatan was already on the decline.
Since he still won by tko, fans and pundits alike assumed that Rountree had put on the performance of his career.

I think it was a combination of both, which doesn't bode well for his chances vs. Ank in a rematch.
He should have just jumped to HW if that's the long term plan, because a 2nd loss in a row in the rematch will make a jump to HW a harder sell
