Alan Thrall is Wrong About Almost Everything

I hate 5x5 and starting strength, mad cow, and anything remotely related to 5x5. So sick of people at work coming up to me and asking of if I do 5x5 after that found some goofy app for a phone. I feel like throat punching them.

Im not running JUGG AI. Cant justify spending that much time in the gym to be stronger. But yes I am doing a meet next year it will be my first and only one I just don’t have much passion for powerlifting to be honest however I Owe it to myself to at least do a meet.

Just running a basic 4 day split until next May

Just a little attached info from the SS forums on that photo...

The fact is that Zach has gained 78 lbs. in 6 months, 46 lbs. of which is LBM. His squat has gone from 145 x 5 to 345 x 5.


So apparently Starting Strength is good if you want to gain about 50lbs of muscle and over double your lifts in about half a year as a beginner. Other than those two major details, there's no use for a 5x5 program.

For the record, I do not run a 5x5 program. I'm running a wave loading program at the moment with four reps down to doubles. Been increasing great with that. The 5x5 volume is just too much for my needs.
 
Starting strength, madcow, 5x5 derivates are proven efficiency programs. SOme people just love to hate Rippetoe for no good reason.

For most people valuing against proven efficiency for individuality isn’t becoming of someone aspiring to enhance their physical performance. AT least not anybody with any intelligence.

5x5 and madcow are the most successful internet programs to this day for their intended purpose and for people like meatplow and Jim to have a bad attitude towards them doesn’t change that.

It seems people like that just go against the grain to be cool or standout for whatever reason.

Just curious what type of programs you run for barbell stuff? I actually had some good success with ss and a heavy light medium split until I started bjj again, then it all went to shit. I did tactical barbell for a bit too but didn’t really like it that much and it doesn’t give much for deadlift programming
