age birthdays quit being birthdays

i stopped celebrating my bday at like...16 ...i mean yeah i got absolutely drunk on each bday up until my 25th...but it wasnt a celebration as much as it was a somber reminder im aging and i might as well get blackout drunk.. lol

This is just another reason why women are so annoying.

Nothing more sad and pathetic then a 32 year old claiming this is her "bday month". Screaming for attention for a "past her prime bday."

Holy shit yes!!! A woman I work with was telling me about June being her birthday month.

you should throw the doodle* at her

Hey sherdoggers, just curious at what age you stopped getting gifts (especially moms) on your birthday. This year for my birthday I got 3 bites of an oreo cake for my birthday as I was passing out trophies to the t-ball team I managed this year.
I pretty much don't anymore but friends surprised me this year with a group gift, very generous

I guess in my late teens.

The past couple birthdays haven't really meant anything to me. Just another year im getting older

28 and I still get gifts. Sure, its not very grande party like, and more like a small group / family gatherings type.

I never really felt my own mortality until I was 40+. At that point I was like, fuck, this thing is going way faster than I thought.

its a helluva thing...knowing you are going to die someday

Yea but have you ever stopped to think of when that "someday" might be? Most people characterize it as "someday" because its vague and seems more distant. Many people die in their 50's or 60's. Hell some people in their 40's. Assuming you make it to 70, have you thought about how many years you might have left? Once I started to number the possibilities, that's when I realized how short time really is.

Sorry to hear that. High blood pressure runs in my mothers side of the family but I've always been lucky with that, until about 6 months ago when I found out I have slightly high blood pressure now I think about it all the time because its likely going to rise. Shitty thing is I'm not in bad health or over weight (maybe 10-15 pounds) but its genetics man. You can't run from genetics.

Some people hit the lotto on that stuff. My wife's grandmother lived 101 years. She was born in 1911 and died in 2012. So that was just a few years ago that she passed and when she was born her family had a horse and carriage. It was the weirdest thing I've ever seen too. It wasn't like she had a heart attack or stroke, she just wound down like a watch, got into a bed, and passed away. Cause of death, old age. How often do you see something like that? Blew me away.

You didn't do shit- why should you get presents when your mom did all the work. Your mom should get presents

LOL, the warranty ends at 40. After that all bets are off.

Probably early teens. Other than milestones like 18, 21, etc. Me and my friends always get together for each other birthdays and have a few drinks, get some dinner, etc but its never a big deal.
