AEW AEW CXXXI: Feel The WRATH

m2-res_480p.mp4

Jesus Christ

WHAT THE FUCK?! That was Timeless Toni Storm the whole damn time, Frank?!

EVEN OUR IMMEDIATE FAMILIES BOUGHT IT!
She lulled everyone into a false sense of security thinking she'd be easy pickings and just when Mariah was at the peak of her arrogance, she pulled the rug out beneath her!

What has Daniel Garcia done since winning the TNT Championship?

What am I missing here? Did something specific happen?

Ricky Starks was wrestling at HOG when people started the "Fuck TK" chant since Tony Khan has basically shut Ricky out of AEW for almost a year when Ricky has been ready to work the entire time.

A lot of fans are upset with Tony Khan spending the early years of AEW getting goodwill by saying shit like "I won't do shady business like WWE", only to end up doing all of the shit WWE does like adding injury time to contracts, or doing mass layoffs of people currently under contract, or icing them out and having them just sit at home. He lied to get the goodwill of fans and wrestlers just to end up being exactly like the people he called the bad guys.

Tony also recently got his feelings hurt by Effy, so he pulled AEW wrestlers from GCW shows even though Effy is just a wrestler that doesn't have anything to do with booking or running GCW.

There's basically a lot of "fuck AEW" sentiment in indy wrestling right now.

I meme on Tony Khan a lot, but the Ricky Starks shit is weird as fuck. TK is usually a pretty open book, but the guy avoids questions about Ricky Starks like the plague. Staying radio silent about it is creating some kind of smark folk hero that's just creating even more buzz around him and more anti-AEW sentiment.

I hope TK is playing chess not checkers and working us all to bring Ricky back with all of this buzz, but that would be weird to have yet another act in his own company with an "I hate AEW or Tony Khan gimmick" after Jack Perry, The Young Bucks, and the Death Riders.

Maybe it isn't a gimmick.

Speaking of, and in full fear it may summon him, what happened to Jack Perry? Dude up and vanished after losing his title, and now with that stupid Elite angle is done, does his equally stupid scapegoat character die too?

He popped up at a couple New Japan shows since he disappeared from AEW. At the Long Beach show last month and the Tokyo Dome on night 2 on that NJPW/AEW/CMLL/ROH/Stardom super show Wrestle Dynasty. Got a random shot at Yota Tsuji's newly won IWGP Global Championship at the Dome. He was still full Scapegoat gimmick both nights.

I kind of hope they follow up on The Elite shit. None of them actually got any real comeuppance. Okada is just doing his thing winning matches. The Young Bucks got to take a vacation and then go to the Tokyo Dome to win the IWGP Tag Titles, Jack Perry got to take a vacation and get a random title shot in New Japan. They just got to put Tony Khan in a neck brace, run roughshod over the company for months, then not really get any sort of punishments at all other than losing a couple matches fair and square.

I expect 0 follow up. Partially because Mox and Crew are doing the violent version of their "take over the company" storyline, and partially because I don't care if they do, but mainly because I don't think creative cares either.
