A potential mega fight in the looming

If Aldo beats Edgar(which can also be considered a mega fight) convincingly should he go up to face Benson and maybe become the first ever UFC champion to simultaneously hold 2 titles?

No.

If Aldo moves up to LW, he has to relinquish his FW belt.

Problem is you have Pettis and Gilbert in line for shots at Bendo.

I think if Aldo can beat Edgar and the Zombie and let Bendo take out Gilbert or Pettis maybe he moves up. I'm just not sure its worth it to move up unless you are getting a title shot right away.

He still has fights at 145 so I think he should stick around for a few more fights, another year.

this upcoming fight is as much of a super fight - edgar and bendo were neck and neck, and edgar is making 45 to fight for the title - really exciting really, although edgar's stock is low bc he got so many rematches

haters will hate - super fight is before us though

dana has said that if people want to go up or down to fight for titles they must vacate their current title. one guy being champion in two divisions just clogs up both divisions with half the amount of title fights in each. this isnt the days of weak division where bj could hold both 155 and 170, think if 155 got held up these days with so much talent there.

aldo has already been talking about a desire to move up, if he beats edgar i could see it happening.

in a way, maybe they should have let aldo defend one more time at FW then move up without beating edgar, that way edgar could have stepped in as the new solid FW champ. i mean he could still do that if he loses but then there's the stigma of having already lost to aldo before taking his leftovers.

It is an awesome fight in terms of star power but Benson crushes Aldo. Takes him down and beats him up all night..

For business purposes he could. But Bendo is a very tough matchup for Aldo.

Aldo still has to defend it against KZ also.

Based on what is edgar > henderson?

Bendo 2 - 0 Edgar doesnt suggest that. Even if you make the case for Edgar being the better fighter in the second, Bendo was better in the first and also did more damage. Edgar is more of a point fighter, he's at the same level but i wouldn't say better than Bendo.

you seem confused.

As a fight fan, I would like to see both fights.

people think bendo will "dominate" aldo?

holy shit the bandwagon is strong.

Bendo hypetrain is insane.....they need to watch the Pettis fight again before saying he would ''give aldo a new asshole'' dumbest shit ever....

Do you think Henderson has improved since then?

Sure he has but not as much to be calling him a world beater. Sherdog does this with every champion....

I agree that there is a new hype around every new champion- as there is an aura around champions that have defended their titles.

Both fights would at the very least be competitive and entertaining.

this would be great but i don't see Aldo beating Bendo. Also, the featherweight division has at least two or three fights for Aldo after he missed about a year

Maybe we all have different term/opinion of what defines a "megafight."

Aldo, Edgar, and Benson, all those guys haven't made names for themselves enough yet, regardless of their skills, to make it a megafight.

GSP vs Penn was a big fight, but even then it wasn't quite mega status.

When I think of megafight I'm thinking of the potential Manny Pac vs Flody Money (of which probably won't happen now. And even if it does it's lost the aura already).

GSP vs Anderson Silva would be mega as well I suppose. Or Anderson vs Jon Jones.

Im not, maybe you had trouble understanding.

To put it more simply, Edgar lost to Bendo so he isn't better.

Henderson-Edgar II reminds me of Shogun's controversial decision loss to Machida. The fans know who the better fighter is based on the actual fight, and it's hard to accept bad judging.
