I don't have anything against people who have socially / culturally conservative values. But if you are barely scraping by in the lower to middle class and you're a Republican, you're a moron, I'm sorry. To go against your material, economic self-interest purely based on social issues is moronic.

And if you think Trump is any different from all the other conmen politicians who have come before him, you're also a moron.

The guy is content to act as a vessel for the core Republican agenda, which is to hollow out the American middle class while giving the rich / corporations a sweet deal. Sure, he'll make some largely symbolic moves to appease his base (like saber-rattling with China, doing construction on that dumb-ass wall, etc.), but make no mistake - the guy is there to make the rich happy, like most presidents before him.

If you think I'm full of shit, notice how the Republicans have largely stopped their in-fighting. The party is quite pleased with Trump's performance, and it's now clear that all of his populist talk was just that, talk. He is one of them, so no need to fight him anymore.
 
The majority of the upper class is a hand me down, that’s a given, but the fact it’s achievable under the current structure is fucking amazing.

Ben Carson came from nothing, sure that ideology is far and few between but that potential is what makes America great in my eyes. Opportunity in available. This isn’t China or Russia. You get the “opportunity” to make yourself. I wasted my time, but I’m not willing to sacrifice the ladder just because I missed a few steps. America works, not everyone can be great. If we could no system would work.

Do the Democrats want to make us all feel like winners, so we don’t feel bad when they take everything away from us?

You are correct about one thing though: Trump and the Republicans have learned how to compromise and work together, something the naive progressives and criminal Democrats have proven unable to do.

If you honesly think progressives have any idea what their policy ideas actually lead to historically, or think the establishment Democrats are any different from the Republicans then sorry but you're a stupid asshole.

Democrat policies have done more to destroy the working/middle class than anyone else. Their Tax and Spend and Open door policies have crippled the working class. The people they claim to want to protect.

I wasn't speaking about you necessarily, just in general to anyone who is high on Trump.

And we can point to a time of history where progressive policies were enacted which seemed to work out pretty well for Americans - the New Deal. Not exactly a period with catastrophic side effects, in fact, it preceded a long period of prosperity for the American middle class.

If youre hinting that progressive policies lead to some sort of socialist totalitarian nightmare, I think you're off the mark. The progressive movement incorporates socialist, anarchist, populist, and libertarian strands of thought.

And I don't think establishment Dems are any better. But I'll bet dollars to donuts that Bernie is much more genuine in his wish to help the American middle class than Trump. Trump is a conman that told the Republican base what they wanted to hear, just like Obama did to the Dems.

the only way to start getting some change going for the better is for a proportionately large number of the population to wake up to the fact that they are indeed being played by a two headed dragon that belongs to the same body

PS...after you all learn to move past the petty differences they are so good at exploiting and highlighting.....maybe we could take this whole "looking thru the other lens" lesson and apply it to the brownish people in foreign countries and empathize a bit with how they feel about being invaded
