GSP grew up in Canada... way easier for a Canadian to cross the border and fight competition in America coming up than it is for a young kid to traverse the world and cross oceans to fight in the US.

Being poor in Canada is not the same as being poor in Dagestan. Access is way more restricted in the East.

0-3 in the UFC, finished all three times, twice in the first minute or so.

Khabib might have had just as padded a record, but at least he backed it up in the UFC.

Why pick this to cry over? Yes, a ton of the W's are bums. They looked anywhere from really good to invincible when they faced top ranked fighters so it didn't seem to hurt much.

I'm not demanding Khabib fight well known opponents early in his career. Just an appropriate level of opponents. His pre-ufc record is ridiculously padded.

If you don't see anything wrong with a guy who is 14-0 fighting a guy who is 0-2, then I don't know what to tell you.

My guy... he was fighting in a league called ProFC.

What other option did he have? Show me a list of names of good fighters he should have fought back in 2011 that were fighting in ProFC (or any Russian league).

Russian MMA began to rise in prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s. However, it truly took off in the 2010s, with several Russian fighters gaining international recognition and competing in major organizations like the UFC, Bellator, and Pride FC (before its dissolution in 2007).

If you go around the world and look at any top fighter from the East - their come up was exactly the same.

Look at Fedor's early fights... he didn't fight any cans?

Sounds like a whole lot of excuses. His record is padded. You cannot tell me that an 0-2 guy was the best opponent they could find. It is shameful matchmaking and no reputable athletic commission would sanction it.

For me, to get money, I don’t know from where [I’d be able to get it from]. My father would come to me: “You want money? Okay, deserve [it], do something.”

My kids, they can ask me for money and [it is like] – okay.
